My sweet dutch was put to sleep yesterday.  She had been battling arthritis and her spine was becoming more and more curved.  She had instances where she was unable to stand/get up, but was always able to recover until yesterday — she fell down and could not get up.  It was so sad to watch her try.  We thought we were losing her about 2 months ago, and she rallied and made a recovery that surprised us and the vets — she was a fighter and a sweetheart both.  I’m so happy that she was active and spunky up until her very last day.  She would always run to greet me anytime she heard me nearby — there’s something really magical about knowing that a rabbit loves you.

I’m really struggling right now — this is harder than I thought it would be.  But I’m so glad I got to have Mrs. Coach in my life.  She was probably around 8 years old and we got to enjoy two of those years with her.  I remember being so excited when she warmed up after a few days in our house, becoming curious, and then seeking out pets and attention.  There’s something special about gaining the trust of a prey animal.  The friends of mine that interacted with her loved her and got to learn about rabbits, a pet most people don’t even consider.  They saw her personality and enjoyed it right along with my husband and I.  My daily routines with her were soothing and just looking at her eating a salad or running happily could elicit a laugh and lift any bad spirits.  It’s hard because having her around would be just the thing right now.  I’m glad she had such a happy life that she kept fighting to stay alive.  I will really miss her.

I’m so sorry for your loss. She was obviously very loved. I’m sure her two years with you were the best of her life.

Sometimes I think sharing your forever home with an older bunny means so much to them. They cross the Rainbow Bridge knowing they were well loved, safe and cared for when they need it most. You gave Mrs. Coach her best years.

Oh I’m only just seeing this. Please accept my belated condolences.

I know you didn’t post a whole lot on the forums but I enjoyed reading about her when you did!
She definitely got some quality years with you. Loved as she deserved!
