So my rabbit Cappuccino has been acting a little odd today and yesterday evening. Up until this afternoon he was being roudy eating pooping the normal just seemed like he way laying funny to me. Could have easily been just me reading to much into it but then he spent most of this afternoon holed up in his cage which is unusual. Then I went to give him his nightly veggi’s and he wasn’t interested in his parsley at all which was weird because normally he goes crazy for the stuff. So then I tried to give him a small chunk of strawberry and that too was a no go. So I pick him up and give him a look over and his belly feels hard. I have him some tummy massages and he started to go to the bathroom. At first the poops looked really weird but after that he pooped a bunch of normal looking ones but his belly still feels kinda hard. And I know for a fact around noon today he was pooping and eating lots of hay. My question is what do I do from here. He is still pooping, eating some and drinking some. But I don’t want this to get worse. I plan to call my vet tommorow but in the meantime do you guys have any suggestions?

You can keep up the tummy massages.

I always give simethicone (baby gas-drops) at the sign of stomach issues. It’s not certain that it has any effect but it is widely used and considered safe by Medirabbit.

If he eats hay and drinks water and poops, you don’t have to do anything else, just check on him. F ex empty out the litterbox and put all fresh litter in it so you clearly sees what comes out from his rear end and can make an estimate of amount etc.

Episodes like these are common in rabbits and should always be taken seriously, just as you are doing.
