No airlines allow bunnies from Hawaii in cabin! Cargo is literally the only option Anyone have any suggestions or experience! I can’t leave my two babies!

Depending on the length of the flight they might be just fine in cargo. Do you need to change flights on the mainland ? if so you may be able to arrange to have them moved into hand luggage once you make the first leg OOORRRR use that as leverage to allow them as carryon. You can also see if a letter from your doctor and vet stating them as support animlas that will remain caged for the duration of the flight will allow you to take them on board. There is also crossing by boat, know anyone with a yacht ?

if we took a direct flight it would be about 5 hours to seattle. I don’t have a regular doctor here that could help with that the vet on the other hand might be able to. I looked into boat travel but it didn’t seem there was an option. There is no Hawaii state law that won’t allow rabbits in cabin in OR out of Hawaii! Such a crock of bull. My babies get freaked on car rides!

Are you going on written policy from the internet, or have you spoken to some one directly?

I spoke to multiple airlines and United seemed to be ok with it but last night upon booking a ticket with an agent to reserve a spot for the buns it didn’t allow him in the system so we cancled that flight! I’m feeling so helpless.

This is what I saw on United’s web site: Pets are not permitted on flights to, from or through Australia, Hawaii or Micronesia

I don’t know about flying with rabbits. I know one BB’er did choose to rehome her rabbit when relocating from HI
That said, I wonder what the temperature in the cargo area is. If it’s OK, then I would think 5 hours might be OK, possibly with tranquilizers, and keeping the cage covered with something across the front to cut down on how much they can see out. That’s all that comes to mind for me. Sorry. If you do choose tranquilizers, I’d give them a trial run at home first to see how they react to them

I thought rabbits were classified as “livestock” and that is how they are presented at customs when you enter or leave Hawaii.

Anyway, I looked up Alaska Air and they allow rabbits in the cabin.

Alaska air doesn’t allow rabbits in cabin to/from Hawaii. I would literally sell my kidney to get my buns with me! Rehoming is not an option as I promised both buns the be their forever homes no matter what! Has anyone had any luck with the emotional support route?

I don’t understand why the rules would be different for Hawaii. If they allow them in the cabin, then they should allow them in the cabin.

                              look into alaska airlines
they have a rule only dogs and cats in the cabin INTO hawaii however they have way more lax rules elsewhere so maybe flighing out of hawaii will be easier

I’m so glad I found this forum! I’m moving from Hawaii to Colorado, and have been running into the same problems scubahood ran into. I won’t leave my bonded boys, but it seemed hopeless. I was even looking into a loan for a charter! Sounds fun, but it would have broke me. I will call Alaska tomorrow. How did everything work out?
