Just wanted to stop by and see how everyone (and bun) was doing, since it’s been a while since I’ve checked in here. Also, I wanted to show off the additions to our warren since last time I was here.

This is Yoshi. She’s a Polish or Hotot dwarf mix (not sure which, and I’ve heard both). She was given to me while I was at training for my job (I’m a manager at a pet store) by my host store because she was un-sellable due to being “mean”. She bit the staff at the store, and customers, and lunged and boxed whenever they tried to handle her, as a result of being stuck in their receiving area for two months because they thought she was pregnant. During this time she received little to no interaction with people, and came out very distrustful and scared. I met her, scooped her up and their manager made her “free with purchase” for me. She’s doing great, hasn’t bit or boxed us since the first two week she was home in November. Her spay is coming up and she’s looking forward to being able to play with her sisters.

This is Cotton. She’s a REW/Lionshead mix. I’m not sure if she had joined us or not the last time I posted here. She also came from my company, before I worked there. She was there for 7 months before my husband brought her home. She was well taken care of, and got lots of time out of her cage while at my store, however no one ever wanted to purchase her. My baby Jaxx is her arch nemesis, and she’d rather spend time snuggling with her people than with the other three buns.

Hi! So do you have 4 bunnies now? Did you get the other two bonded?

Your Yoshi reminds me of our Annie. Both in background and coloring. We found her at a shelter and they said she had been there several months and she was a mean bunny, boxing at them when they cleaned her cage and such. They even renamed her Ninja due to the boxing. When I reached in to rub her nose, though, she immediately put her head down for pets. I found out a bit later that the workers “scruffed” the bunnies whenever they picked them up. I think this was part of her defensiveness. My husband and I decided to bring her home because I knew if the shelter kept pointing out “grumpy/mean bunny”, she may never find a home. That was in September 2014. Now she is a sweet affectionate bunny who loves company.

We do have four now! Foo and Jaxx are 99% bonded, they still have scuffles about sleeping arrangements, Jaxx likes sleeping on the bottom of their home but Foo looooves her blankies. We are hoping that after her spay, Yoshi and Cotton will be able to be bonded to them as well, as Yoshi wants to be friends with everyone. Cotton is def the hardest to work with, since she would rather ignore her sisters and hang with the humans. They’re all amazing, and while it has its challenges, I love my lil warren. =)

That’s so sad about your Annie! These babies get such a bad rap sometimes just because people dont always know how to handle them. Once Yoshi was with people and buns who understood her, she really came out of her shell, she’s a total sweetheart now
