I have a male rabbit and we think it’s about 4-5 months old. He’s never been with a female. I kinda want to breed rabbits then sell the babies once their old enough. So, if I breed my male rabbit (he’s super nice now!) will he turn mean? What if I got tired of breeding rabbits and I sold the female…would that make him mean? How old do baby rabbits have to be before I could sell them. Will the male rabbit hurt the babies? Or the mom? Thank you!

Discussing intentional breeding isn’t allowed on BB.

There are too many homeless rabbits in shelters as it is, being euthanized because nobody wants them, why would you want to add to that?

You are not allowed to talk about breeding rabbits on BB.

And I 100% agree with what Hazel said.

Oh ok I didn’t know. And i was going to give them to my friend that has lots of rabbits and are breeding them and to kids that would want them and give them good homes (their parents wouldn’t buy them from me) i wanna be a vet and I don’t “want to add to killing baby rabbits” -_-

Please enjoy your rabbit for who he is. For as cute as babies are, they are a lot of work and there are so many breeders out there, it’s really not something to just dabble in. You wouldn’t be able to just keep a male in with the female all the time. She would just get pregnant all over again and the babies grow quickly. You definitely do not make money off breeding. Please leave it for those who are into showing them and 100% invested in this venture. I would get your male neutered before he starts in with hormonal behavior and enjoy all the wonders and silliness bunnies have to offer. Just look on Petfinder and see all the unwanted rabbits. The world does not need more breeders.

Oops. You posted while I was typing. Sounds like you’re being smart in your decisions. Good job and thanks for doing the right thing by not putting more babies out there.
