  I’m hoping to be getting a new bun friend for Ziggy this week. I’ve read over the bonding advice on this site. Just wondering if anyone can provide addition tips?
  
  I’m planning on keeping our new addition in a x-pen in the livingroom while we are bonding. Ziggy is free-range, but is primarily in the bedroom with his litter box & water during the day while I’m at work and while I sleep.
  
  I guess my biggest concern is Ziggy has not seen another rabbit since he was a kit. Has anyone else been in this situation when bonding for the 1st time? If so your advice is greatly appreciated!!!
  
  My reason for getting a 2nd bun now is that I bought a toy rabbit. Ziggy has been dragging it around & grooming it. It’s made me think he really needs a friend to do these things with.

  I had a similar situation when bonding my rabbit Peri (also my first bonding experience)-she hadn’t seen another rabbit since we got her at 9weeks old. By then we had her for 1 and a half years by herself. The only thing i was worried about was the fact that she got used to our house as her space and was quite territorial when we first introduced her to Poe.
  I would just be wary of that.
  I don’t understand completely the set up but would Ziggy be able to go into the living room where the new bun is kept? Just be careful if you see any signs of aggression from him ( for example nipping through the cage bars)-If you do see any of those behaviors i would keep the rabbits separate for a while and work on getting them used to each others scent.(by swapping toys or litter)

  Thanks, PP. Ziggy would only be able to go in the living room when I’m home. When I’m out of the house or asleep, he is locked in my bedroom with me. I’m expecting some territorial issues as he is use to having the living room as part of his space when I’m home. But I think the bedroom is his main domain as that’s where he sleeps, eats and where is litter box is.

  RACHEL!!! I am SUPER excited!!! Tell us more about your new bunny – have you already chosen him/her yet? I NEED to know EVERYTHING! Ha ha ha ha……..
  
  And not that I have a clue, lol! But if Ziggy is so keen on his new toy friend, maybe getting a new real life friend is just what he wants??? You’ll find out soon enough, he he he. EXCITED!!!
