I thought I would just let you all know how Moxie is doing now.

Today was her last dose of baytril, she was on it for 3 weeks. Her nose is not running anymore and there is no rattling in her chest anymore! so yay! Although she does still sneeze sometimes, although not nearly as bad as before, just a little sneeze here or there, but I think that’s pretty much normal. She seems to be doing very well, maybe even a little more sassy! I think that she will be definitely happy to be off the meds! She’s been very annoyed with me and very suspicious whenever I try to give her a treat! So yeah, she’s doing good!

        Now here are my questions:

        1) What are the chances of her getting it again/ it resurfacing?

        2) And when she’s not sick, what are the chances of giving Pasteurella to another bun? Like let’s say I was to bring home a friend for Moxie, would she give it the sickness?

        Thanks for reading!

Glad to hear she’s doing well

My understanding is that pasturella is a bit like the cold sore virus. Load of people have it, and you can’t get rid of it, but you only get the cold sores maybe once a year if you’re immune system is compromised becasue you’re stressed or poorly.

Loads of bunnies (can’t remmeber the percentage but it’s like 60 or so) have pasturela in their system, because it’s passed on easily and mothers give it to their babies. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll get sick from it because, like a cold sore, it is dormant most of the time.

If you get another bunny, yes she will give it to them, but chances are they already have it, because most bunnies do, it’s just dormant. So don’t let this stop you from getting another bun!

I’m not sure if I explained that very well but hopefully you get what I’m saying.

Super happy to know our Moxie is doing better, and did you say SASSY??? Is that the same as Henry being naughty??? He he he he…….

For the rest, I’m gonna pretend to be clever and I’ll ditto Tessie! Ha ha ha.

AND then I am going to add – HUH? Are you thinking of getting another bunny???

AH—- No, not anytime soon lol. It was more of an “if” Moxie ever got a friend. Although my mum says one of these days I (she) should get an English Angora. But she says she’s scared Moxie would get the new bun really sick. But, as far as I can see, no new bunnies! Ha ha ha!

              Tessie— That’s what I thought…

So glad Moxie is doing better. And from my experience, Tessie explained it perfectly, like a cold sore. My bunnies obviously carry the illness, but it only breaks out when they have a compromised immune system or if they become stressed.
And to answer your question, Lionel is my sniffly one, and Roxi obviously carries the ilness too, but she doesn’t get ill from it. She does get a little sneeze sometimes when Lionel does, but I think she is a bit more immune to it?

                  Ok thanks guys.

Moxie’s still doing good. I was kinda nervous that when she got off the meds she’d get sick again, but so far so good!!
