        Hi there!

My name is Mollie and my bunny’s name is Bunny. We named her Bunny in remembrance of a kitten my stepfather had once rescued which we had named Kitten. I like to call her Bun-Bun, and she loves to give “kisses”!

I’m not sure of Bunny’s breed, and I was hoping maybe you guys could help me out. I’ve never really done this before, so I don’t know if this is the proper place to post this thread. I was told she is a Flemish Cross, but I’ve done a lot of research and such a breed does not exist. I suppose they meant she’s a mixed breed. After reading descriptions of Flemish Giants she seems to fall pretty well in that category, but I don’t think her fur rolls back. I’m not an expert, but it seems her fur is more of a flyback and she does look an awful lot like the American Chinchilla or Giant Chin-a mix between Flemish Giant and Chinchilla. This would make sense since they did tell me Flemish Cross. But for her color it’s really hard to tell the difference.

When I first got Bunny she was extremely underweight. Her spin was bumpy, and she looked sooo tiny. It wasn’t the previous owners fault. Most of the pet stores in my area do not stock good rabbit food, and the only one that does doesn’t have any for young rabbits. I have her on Oxbow Essentials Young Rabbit Food and give her a steady supply of a variety of Oxbow hays, mostly timothy. When she has fresh fruits and veggies, she only eats organic. She has grown a lot since I got her a could of months ago, but I have no idea exactly how old she is or what size she should be for her age/breed. I think she’s about 8 months, and I am trying to find a vet in my area that specializes in exotic pets. Most people in south MS just have cats, dogs, fish, birds, and farm animals. Finding the right kind of vet is a bit difficult.

I do have lots of pictures of her to help us figure this out, but I have to upload them to my computer first. I will have them on here shortly!

        Thank you so much!!

Can’t wait for the pic’s SS, we love new bunnies here on BB! It sounds like your doing wonderfully – the only suggestion I would make is if your Bunny is 8 months, the next bag of Oxbow pellets, buy the adult ones and mix the last of the young to transition her to the adult pellets. Other than that, your doing a great job caring for her – good on you!

          PS – PIC’s please! Giggle……
