So I just recently found out that it is not recommended to use bedding all over Loki’s cage. Of course, that is what the pet store told me to do, and being a new bunny owner, I listened. I was planning on stopping the bedding because it is getting stuck in Loki’s fur. some people told me to try using a fleece or something for the bottom of his cage, so he can also stay warm. but the only thing i’m worried about is him possibly chewing it and swallowing it. (yes I am kind of a paranoid bunny owner. haha) I just want to make sure he’s safe with what is in his cage. I was also told to try the woven mats, which I do want to try as well, but I know they aren’t very warm, and I would like to use something else to keep him warm in his hut. so basically, do you think I would be okay to use a fleece? and just watch him with it? or is there different alternatives? I don’t think he would like pelleted bedding, seeing as he hates the care fresh. well, he doesn’t hate it, but he definitely prefers no bedding at all. the care fresh is not an option, as it’s been getting stuck in his fur and causing knots.

if I should use a fleece, is there any recommendations? how often it should be taken out and cleaned?

Well you don’t need anything at all, you can leave just the floor bare, but if you want to use something fleece should be fine.
Keep an eye that he doesn’t chew it, though.

You seem really concerned about him being warm (I hadn’t noticed that in your previous post). Is he inside or outside?

oh he’s inside! i’m just paranoid about everything to be honest. i’ve never had a bunny before, and I just want to make sure i’m doing what’s best for him! I know he likes laying on the cold plastic, but I wanted to have something for warmth, if he does get cold. I just took all the care fresh out and put in a fleece, and now he keeps going to the corners and trying to dig! haha.

That’s pretty normal — he may want to rearrange it!

I actually just folded the fleece in half, so it’s half fleece and the other half with nothing. I think he’ll like that better

I used to lay a piece of fleece on top of a hay mat when my lops were using dog crates. I’m posting from my phone so can’t post a pic, but there’s a pic in my profile album of Moshi sleeping and you can see what he thought of that.

I live in south Florida so the bottom of Tulley condo is tile. He likes it and usually lays on it. The two other layers are outdoor carpeting. It was recommended by the vet because it doesn’t have loops.
