I do a lot of crafts, so I have tons of stuff laying around in my craft corner, but nothing she could reach, or so I thought. I leave my glue guns plugged in and if I dont use it right away, the glue just melts out and makes a kind of sculpture thingy. I think she ate a small piece of glue. It’s really hard, so it’s nothing like a liquid glue, its almost like a hard rubber. So I dont know if it’s something that she could pass, or if it would get dissolved and make her sick. I’m really not sure what to do. Also, I’m not 100% that she ate glue, but there were two other pieces where she was sitting, so I’m assuming thats what it was. She was also chewing it up, so I’m guessing it didnt go down in one large chunk. I’m not sure what to do.

Ok, the general protocol is to ensure lots of hay and water is consummed, increase the veg to keep the gut busy and moving. Watch for any signs of blockage or stasis, monitor poop output to make sure it doesn’t change (clean your litter trays so you can immediately see any changes or if the poop stops. Check the active ingredients in the glue and give your vet a call to see what they advise.

The brand is non toxic, so I’m going to keep an eye on her. It’s already been an hour or so, so since rabbit’s systems move so fast, I’m getting any sort of issue would have happened by now. I actually just finished giving her her usual salad, it’s a big romaine leaf, some parsley, a baby carrot, tiny chunks of celery, and a strawberry. She’s a dwarf breed, I’m not sure what breed yet. But she’s still little. So I think I’ll probably give her another mess of parsley before she goes in her cage for the night. Which will be in about three or four hours. But she seems fine so far, so I’m not too worried.

If it was just a small chunk, then it will likely make its way through OK. Like Roberta said, I would keep a close eye on her to make sure she is pooping and makes sure she is eating plenty of hay.

Hot glue won’t dissolve or anything. The only thing to worry about is blockage and that’s pretty unlikely, so just watch and wait. Signs of a blockage would be lack of appetite, not pooping, generally looking sick or uncomfortable.

She seems to have survived. I was making sure she ate all the hay she could, as well as keeping her bowl topped off with fresh water and giving her cold wet veggies. We also live a 15 minute drive from an emergency vet, and her appetite didn’t taper off for a second, so I wasnt too worried. I kept a pretty close eye on her, and it seems not to have any affect on her whatsoever. I wish she didn’t eat everything that fits in her mouth. She’s started on towels now.

One of mine was part feral goat too, they are all dreadful chewers but at least they are a bit more selective these days. Glad she is doing OK.

She’s doing good, although something goes on with her, where she eats like a pig, drinks normally, plays normally, and just wont poop. It’s happened four or five times since we got her two months ago. And I make sure she has hay and stuff, and I just feed her some greens and a piece of apple, and plunk hay in front of her, and make her drink water, and finally, after like 5 hours, she poops a HUGE pile, and then starts going normally again. It’s driving me mad. As far as I can tell, there’s no explanation for it.

Pascal is a bit anal retentive… He poops twice a day, on schedule, in the same place. He generally won’t poop in his cage but in the play pen hay tray, 6am and 6pm. Hops into his tray, gets a focused look on his little face and lets rip.

Hmm. I never really thought of that. I want to try to get her on a bit of a schedule now, but other than letting her out of the cage and feeding her salad around 6ish, everything just kind of happens when it happens. Maybe she’s just getting her own routine down.
