Lately Pumpkin has been peeing…on us!!! I thought it was only when she was annoyed because we weren’t paying enough attention to her but tonight we were snuggling and I was petting like always and she peed while i was petting her on my lap!

This always happens on the couch (which we bought two months before we got her so its never had any other animals on it) and she’s otherwise completely litter box trained.

I read an article that said its her way of marking us as her favorite humans …if that’s the case I’m ok with not being favorite. I personally am hoping its a symptom of the syphilis! Haha but seriously…

        WHY!!??

And how do we make it stop!

Ps… Did I mention the couch is new… and cost $3,000….

Have you asked your vet if it could be related? I guess you could always submit a question to Dana Krempels or one of the others on allexperts too.

It might be related to get illness, I’m not sure. She is spayed already, correct?

Some buns really just cannot be allowed access to couches and beds. Can you interact with her on the floor instead?

Hey JR–it was actually Dana’s article that gave me the idea that she just REALLY REALLY loves us! haha, maybe I’ll post my own question anyway though.

Beka–thats what we’ve been trying to do but its so hard! I feel like she’s being neglected if I’m not down there but I’d rather be on the couch! The problem is, she’ll go weeks w/ no issues then pee everywhere again out of nowhere! Just as we’re starting to trust that it’s not going to happen anymore I’m nervous about her even being in my lap on the floor now!

She got her first penecilian shot today…and wont have anything to do w/ me! So I don’t have to worry about being peed on tonight

My Gracie used to do that to me every time I held her. My husband would wonder why the heck I didn’t learn my lesson. But what can you do? Gracie died so I don’t have an answer to help you. Sorry

MB, maybe you’re on to sth, Gracie did have a bladder/kidney problem, if I remember correctly.

My Bam sometimes peed on us when he was new here. I always thought it was some kind of fearfulness involved. He stopped doing it after like 6 months or so. Now he never does it.

Pumpkin doesn’t seem fearful though. How long have you had her for now?

Oh, well, right Bam. Gracie did have issues we never totally got hold of…bladder, poopy butt. Yikes! Could it be related to her bunny syphillis??

I don’t know, MB, one illness does tend to make it easier for other illnesses to catch hold. Like my old dog who got borrelia and cancer of the heart. I have no proof that the borrelia helped propel the cancer, but it seems reasonable. The immune-system can only do so much fighting back.

I just thought perhaps if little Pumpkin had gotten an UTI or sth. It’s not so long ago she was treated for syphilis. You can be weak for quite some time after a serious illness.

Or maybe she pees on her humans in happy exitement.

I thought it was just SO FUNNY when she did it to hubby and rubbed it in that he was her favorite….not so funny now! HA!

But seriously, I am hoping it’s related to the syhphilis, or like Bam said, maybe it’s adjustment; she’s getting comfortable, feeling safe. We’ve only had her three months (feels like 3 years though and I can’t imagine life without her!)

We’ve been keeping her off the couch the last few nights…we’ll see how things go!
