Harley has been making these weird noises/poses all night. He seems fidgety, keeps stretching out the rearranging soon after. He leans back like he’s going to poop/pee, lifting his tail, but ends up making a weird squeaky spraying noise, like when a bottle of dish soap runs out. He’s ignoring his hay but he ate a couple raisins.
I’m a bit worried. I gave him a tummy rub and his tummy doesn’t feel weird.

ETA: he is eating some hay.

Yes, they do fart, simethicone can help to get the gas moving but if this is ongoing I would be tempted to take him to the vet to have it checked. As with humans the odd small one is normal, ongoing squelchy ones would indicate a problem.

Its just been a series of them tonight. Wondering if simethicone would help.

              Thanks!

Well, It can’t hurt and in that article I attached it’s recommended as a fill in treatment till you get to the vets. I asked my vet about continuing it when Pipi had stasis and bad gas and he said the same, it could help but worst case it will do no harm.

Went out and got some simethicone. Tried giving him some in a banana, turns out he’s not a naner fan. Used the dropper and got a bit in his mouth. Darn buns and their medicine! He sounds like an empty aerosol can being sprayed. Is it bad to say I’m not sure if its coming from his front or back end now? Ugh. He’s been eating hay and his tummy sounds slightly gurgly. He just seems fidgety and uncomfortable. I imagine I will be calling the vets in the morning.

Well, he ate some raisins finally. This seems to be the only food he’s interested in at the moment. But its something. He’s going further between…farts….and has been grooming some and snuggling with Bruno. Hopefully he’s set for the night.

Sorry for all the posts. We’ve not had this kind of bunny sickness yet. Its a bit nerve wracking.

You can give him another dose of simethicone within 2 – 3 of the last to get things started. Average sized bun will need the full 1ml, just slip the oral syringe in the side of his mouth and squirt. If you can get it past his lips the syringe slips into that little gap between their front teeth and molars quite nicely.

Well, I stayed up late with Harley. When I woke up this morning, their pile of hay was blown through and their food dish was mostly empty. Bruno’s a pig, but I think she had help. So I gave him some raisins, which he was excited about, and some fresh hay. He is currently nomming some hay. I have not heard any farts this morning. Hoping we’re through this! I will call the vet though, if he gets bad again.

Glad he’s doing better. They love to stress out the rotten little sods.

Glad he’s feeling better! That can certainly be a scary time! I’ve been thru it more than once with our girl! Simethicone can help but it’s really just a 50/50 thing… Either it does or it doesn’t… No guarantee unfortunately.

Glad Harley’s feeling better. It’s actually a good thing that he was passing it as much as he was. Imagine how awful he would have felt if he had kept all that bottled up inside of him.

I’m also glad that we now have first hand confirmation that bunnies can fart.
