I adopted this creature, they told me she’s a rabbit but I’m not so sure!

Photos (warning: there’s a pic of Halloween preparation at the top of the page, it’s a bit gory.

Do any of you have any ideas what breeds she has mixed in? What you can’t see in those photos is that the backs of her ears have markings that make them look really dirty and she has a few caramel spots around the rump. We all agree that she’s got Hotot in her so please give some other suggestions!

HAha, yeah, but I actually would like help identifying what breeds (of rabbit) she’s got mixed in.

Certainly hotot… beyond that, not sure. Cute though.

I agree with Stickerbunny, she definitely has hotot in her.

Is “adorable” a breed? I third hotot, but I am really bad with breeds so I couldn’t say anything further.
                  Aardvark, LOL!

Blanc de hotot. I see nothing else in her off hand. She looks to be small for the breed, but not dwarf so I don’t think dwarf hotot.

As an aside, the banner at the top of that link is pretty graphic with all the blood and eye poking, sometimes my kid reads over my shoulder and that’s not G rated. A warning would be good.

Yeah, looks like a hotot to me. She’s really cute though. Really striking.

I was going to ask about that, is that from Halloween? Did you do that yourself?

Yes, it is. That’s me on the left using a syringe to make my best friend’s mascara run to look like she’s been crying. If anyone wants to see more pics of that I can give you a link, but they’re really not for the faint hearted!

Ooops, sorry – I forgot about that. Fixed.

Come on guys! One of you must have some ideas. What about the shape of her face? And yes, she is a bit small because she’s only about 6 months old.

Oh, and I agree with Blanc de Hotot. Google images, the face shape is similar too.

It not that we are lacking ideas, it’s that we all seem to have the exact same idea. Everything fits really well for blanc de hotot. Even the thing that are imperfect still fit. Her being slightly small for the breed fits her age. The slight shadowing behind the ears is a fault so she isn’t show quality, but it’s a very very common fault in pure breed hotots and you can’t expect every kit in a litter to be show quality. The beige marking on her rump are most likely stains that she got from her previous circumstances.

And thanks for adding the warning so we can be sure not to have kids looking over our shoulders.

I agree with Eepster. We are not exactly “lacking” in ideas. Everbody here has said they think your bun is a Hotot. Her face shape and coloration and size all point to hotot.

I was under the impression that Hotots were small and round, not long and thin! Now I know… She looks much thinner than the google images. At six months old and only about 1.5kg she’s very small for a Blanc de Hotot. She can’t be pure B de H, not with all those caramel spots but those could come from many different breeds.

There are two breeds commonly reffered to as “hotot” frequently. Blanc de hotot and the dwarf hotot. The small round one is the dwarf hotot. They have the same markings as a blanc de hotot, but have the dwarf body type similar to netherland dwarfs, lion heads, etc.

Right, that explains it. Somehow when I previously saw pics it was only dwarf hotots.

The makeup looks so good! You’re very talented. Wish I could do stuff like that.

Yeah, I think hotot for sure is in there. Beyond that, it is really hard to tell. She could be mixed with just about anything.

As for her current body size, you said she is 6 months? You would like she would be a little bigger, but if she is mixed with a smaller breed then she probably won’t reach regular hotot size.

Yes, she’s about six months old but I don’t know exactly. She’s replaced a 3kg rabbit so I’d love her to get loads bigger. I’m feeding her as much as possible and giving her lots of exercise but I’ll be lucky if she reaches 2kg. Obviously I won’t let her get chubby though.
