Hi! I’m new to rabbits, but not to small animals. I have four guinea pigs: Bonsai, Bamboo, Bear, and Adzuki. Bear is a neutered male and the other three are females. I also have a female hedgehog, Mochi and two RCD hamsters; Ebony and Ivory. We adopted Adzuki a few months ago and then the two hamsters about a month before that. Bonsai and Bear were adopted in the first few months of 2014. My animal family has grown a lot in 2014.

I adopted a female Dutch rabbit a few weeks ago. Her previous home was not a good one at all. She was kept in a tiny poor ventilated cage with very little hay or veggies. She wasn’t eating good quality pellets and she wasn’t played with often. The girl who had her before called her ‘mean,’ and she apparently nipped and growled. I had been offered this little bun last summer but unfortunately I couldn’t take her then. A few months ago I was interested and was able to take her, but her human wasn’t willing to give her up. Finally, the girl’s mother offered the rabbit to me and I adopted her! I named her Cinnabun.

For the first week, she was very territorial and growled at me when I tried to do anything in her cage; whether I was giving her food, water, hay, or even picking up her poop. Of course, she was also in her tiny cage. Last week we moved her into her new cage, which is two dog crates connected. She’s been getting used to me and she’s not territorial anymore. Cinnabun still is very shy and when I open up her cage for her have some playtime she’ll hop out and sniff around, then go back in. She just repeats that for a while. She’s also not destructive at all and is very well behaved, she doesn’t even chew the toys I gave her. I’m hoping to schedule a spaying appointment very very soon.

Sorry that was so long…I would post some pictures now but I’m not sure how to do that?

Cinna-Bun. I’m going to do my best to describe how to attach some pictures.
(This is how I do it, although some people use photobucket and whatnot)
                  1) Have your picture already edited to a proper size. Mine are 500 times 500
                  2) You must be on the Reply, not the Quick Reply.
                  3) Click Attachment

                  4) Click “Browse” or “choose file” and another tab should pop up of all your pictures you have on your computer.

                  5) Choose and double click the photo you want
6)Hit the big green UPLOAD button

                  7) Then under the upload button it should say stuff like File name, File size, Creaet Thumbnail, ect. Click the little picture of a pencil (or whatever it is) under create Thumbnail.

                  8) Confirm, and then the picture should pop up into your post.

(^ I had to upload a picture so I could remember all the steps, sorry!)
