Lately I have noticed panda eats his poops but only the ones he pulls out of his rear end himself (I guess he likes them fresh?) At first I thought they were the cecels…i was wrong it’s his normal dry pills he’s after and now elly has picked up on this habit

Nothing else is wrong with them that I can see, anyone else run into this?

Peter has done this since he was tiny… He’s always done a good job eating is cecals and not squishing them into the rug, but he likes his “pills” too. He’ll hop into the box and start munching on both his last set of pills and fresh hay. Occasionally while he’s grooming his belly you’ll see a poop start and he’ll grab up those fresh so they don’t hit the floor. I figure that he’s doing fine, and his vets hasn’t been worried about it so I just accept it as a strange bunny thing.

Remember though, that if you’re ever concerned about a strange new bunny behavior possibly being related to health issues, you should always feel comfortable calling your local vet. I know I asked mine about it when I was still learning about cecals and “pills” and he had no problem assuring me Pete was fine.

One of mine does that, but they don’t necessarily have to be fresh and don’t have to be hers! Its all fine, but still bothers me to see my dainty girly-girl bunny chomping on a poop pellet. My other two will chin the random poop they find in the play area.

It seems to be normal for some bunnies. I wouldn’t worry about it unless it was an excessive amount. I don’t notice my buns eating them but sometimes I find some in Bindi’s condo that look like they have a bite out of them.
