Princess, Luna, and Clarice are visiting their new vet for a real first checkup tonight! Our original vet turned out to not really know bunnies so well, and the receptionist who was new at the time thought that because she saw small animals, she did bunnies. She gave them all a once over for free and apologized profusely but said that we should find someone new. So we have. This ones very close as well. Any recommendations for a bunny snack bag? Do we need to brig water? Shouldn’t be more than 90 minutes total between leaving and returning. If so, how much. Also, I usually bring some treats and pellets. My girls aren’t very interested in hay at the moment (they have phases) so I don’t think they would want any along. Please send good vibes, they’re a handful in general and I just know this’ll be exhausting. Discussing spay options as well…

I’d bring hay just in case they’d like something to munch on. Water shouldn’t be a big deal if you’re only spending 90 minutes there but if you want, you could bring some cucumber or some other veggie that has a lot of water. You could bring treats along to make them feel better and associate the vets with something good Good vibes sent from me and Bun Bun! He doesn’t mind the vets and hopes yours don’t either.

Hi all. Went okay. They were all raving lunatics of course. Very difficult. The vet was very nice, had rabbits of her own and was extremely knowledgable. Only thing I did not like was that they used some scruff to move them. However, I really didn’t see any other way. They were supported properly, but they weren’t being cooperative at all so I was okay with it. The good thing is that they’re all healthy in every way and we’re setting up spay dates! The vet said that she has only lost one rabbit in her career (she’s in her 50s) and does spays and neuters regularly. She’s very into holistic medicine and has a great deal of knowledge on the risks of anesthetizing a rabbit. I was very pleased.

Sounds like a step in the right direction. Glad it went well.

First, that was nice of the first vet to be honest about her abilities and encourage you to find a rabbit specialist!

Your second vet sounds good! The scruff thing isn’t ideal, but it’s just the occasional thing and I wouldn’t not see the vet just bc of that.
