My 1 year old Havana bunny, Luna has recently started getting the hiccups a lot. Or at least I think she is getting the hiccups. I looked it up on Youtube and found similar buns making the same noises and little jerks. It wasn’t a big deal (and actually kind of cute) but now she gets the hiccups twice a day for the past 3 days. It is possible she is just eating, binkying, and drinking too fast? Or do you think this is something serious and I should get her to the vet? Have any of your buns experienced this?

Luna and I thank you for any help!

The hiccups could also be sneezes- does Luna have any nasal discharge? If she has eye or nose discharge, or if the sneezing/hiccups continue to get worse, I would bring her to a vet to have her checked out. If it goes away after a few days I wouldn’t worry too much about it, it was probably just a bunny “head cold” of sorts- but keep an eye out if it returns because that could be something irritating her in her environment or something that needs a dose of meds.
It’s also possible -especially if there’s no eye or nose discharge- that she does have a cold, but it’s caused by a virus and not bacteria. If that’s the case you wouldn’t be able to give her antibiotics for it anyway; you’d just have to let her get over it on her own. But an exotics vet would definitely be able to diagnose the issue and let you know what to do

Neville gets the hiccups too! They come in waves, some times he has them almost every day, and then there will be weeks between hiccup episodes! I agree with Dwarf Sparrow- I don’t think it is anything to worry about unless she seems to be in pain.

P.S- I think it is so adorable when he gets the hiccups!
