Hey fellow bunny owners! I adopted a small bunny, well to be more precise rescued one from wandering in the middle of the road in the hot sun glaring at it. >.<" At first i wasn't sure what its gender was but now I am well aware. It was quite the funny story hehe. His name is Toki, hes black with white color fur around his neck and so adorable. Its been 1 week and 6 days that I had him and I am not sure of his breed type or his age. Been doing a lot of researched but to no avail I still hasn't had any clue of how to determine his age and breed.

Whenever i research for something regarding his behavior i come across this forum and it had given me so much more than i was looking for.  And later i got so attached to this forum i couldn’t help but join in. But to be  more clearly one of the main reason why I Joined this forum is to gain more knowledge from you all in how to raise a bunny in safe and healthy way. Because embrace yourself to what i have to say next…..there aren’t any Clinic/hospital for specialize for animals here in our country let alone, not in my island (Not that i know off). There are few people who owns pet shops/house and had experience on medical practice on some other animals like parrot/other birds/cats and etc, but i never once met someone who knows much about rabbit and how to treat rabbit when it is sick.  (almost to tears because I am very much neurotic I tend to worry and fear over every little thing he does or doesn’t do. I am very much attached to Toki)

However rest assure i am willing to and I am already on process of searching for one who treats for rabbits just in case. But until than I am doing my best to keep it safe and healthy. I hope to receive good advice and knowledge from you all fellow bunny lovers. Please don’t hesitate to be straight with me and not sugar coat me on advising, please oh please be straight with me when necessary.

        Behold my baby Toki

        b

And ohh i forgot to introduce myself out of all the excitement. I am a female and I go to work and I am 22 years old. I live in Maldives.Maldive Islands are a rather distant chain of atoll islands in the Indian Ocean. If a resource isn’t available, it isn’t available. Hence the difficulty in finding a Vet. And that picture i posted of Toki is the day i got him.

            Welcome! Toki is so cute!

Check out the Bunny Info and Resources sections on this site (through the menu button at top of page). I hope you are able to find a vet — its definitely important to have someone who can treat your bunny especially in an emergency. The folks on here give great advice, but we aren’t vets and can only help so much. We’ll do the best we can to help with your questions though! Keep the pictures coming too — we LOVE bunny pics!

He’s adorable! Glad to hear that he got taken in and not left alone.
I’m not great with bunny breeds, but he looks like a young guy to me.
I second JR; I know you said there are no vets there, but I hope that you’re wrong and you find one that can help. I know that this forum has been a blessing to me when it comes to taking care of bunnies, especially when a vet is not currently an option or necessity. Welcome to the forums!

Hey thank you JackRabbit and Cottontail. I will surely Check out the Bunny Info and Resources sections. And I also hope to god that I am wrong and find a Vet soon. So far my baby Toki is doing so much better. Hes been binkying really high and left me wondering how did such a young fellow got out of his little play area i build up.

Here is a recent picture. Had to put towels everywhere he likely to play because my whole apartment is tiled and worried Toki could trip and hurt himself. But am about to move to another soon where I plan to put parquet.

Never underestimate how high a bunny can jump! My little 3 lb Kieko can clear a baby gate with no problem. Moshi on the other hand is afraid to jump off a 13 inch high hidey house so he always uses the ramp. He does, however, try really hard to jump up to reach doorknobs (no idea why!)!

hehe your babies sounds adorable and funny!  and they look beautiful. Moshi seems like one curious bun bun.  I wish to have more too. There was this one time I let him loose to my room so that I could clean his house, i swear no one can make this up, I turned away for a second or two to the house and turn back to see he was lying on my bedside table. O.O <—– exactly my expression. At first I tried to limit the play area by building playpen using cardboard box but gradually he kept getting out by jumping and I kept maximizing the height but to no avail he keep getting out so i just let it go for now. Although its pretty hard to litter train this way.

You do have yourself a jumper! Definitely bunny-proof well if he’s going to be free roam. Bunnies are notorious for chewing and eating things that are not food. Wires pose an especially dangerous threat and seem to be irresistible to bunnies. Even if you think your bunny won’t chew something, bunny-proof it anyway because he may surprise you one day.

If you decide he would be safer on an enclosure, look around for a dog exercise pen (xpen). My lops live in an area that is 3 xpens attached together (Marlee is a major chewer and cannot be trusted free roam). I went with the tallest I could find (48 inches tall). With your jumper, I would recommend the 42 or 48 inch height.

Can’t wait to see more pictures!

Yes hes a jumper! he now jump on to my bed and sleeps. hehe Yeah I bunny proofed the whole area. I even got all worried and threw my current TV rack and put back something more simpler and something where I could keep my cables beyond reachable to Toki. I love my previous TV rack but I love Toki more I love him enough to throw all my stuffs just to make him safe. I will try remodeling the playpen.

And oh! you should check my other thread its still not that many but I hope a lot of pictures and stories do come along  :
