I usually give Oliver his metacam at 8pm in the evening. However, over the holidays I will be gone from about 3pm until 10:30/11pm two nights in a row. My question is, is it better to give Oliver his daily metacam later when I get home or switch him to a morning schedule?

If I switch him to the morning, how should I do that–skip a night and give him his dose the next morning, or give him his regular 8pm dose and then another dose the following morning?

        Thanks!

I would give him it later when you get in, what you could do is a few days before, start moving it back half an hour until you get to the time you will be back home at. Don’t give him one dose at night then another in the morning – that would be an overdose.

I agree with kirstyol that the best thing to do would probably be starting gradually (30 min intervals would be fine) moving the time you give it to him forward until you reach 11. After you are back on your normal shedule, you should start moving it back to 8 again, in even smaller intervals, so you do not give him too much in a 24 hr period. I would move it back by 15-20 minutes each night until you are back at your normal time.
            Have a wonderful holiday!
