Zeus harasses strangers

We had a repairman come to our house yesterday for our furnace.  He was working on the thermostat, which is in the hallway that connects the bunny room and the master bedroom.  Zeus was having his out of cage time, and decided the repairman seemed like a pretty cool guy.

I was sitting in the living room when I see a big furry Zeus head pop out of the bunny room.  He hops right up to the guy, gives him a few sniffs, then proceeds to headbutt/nose bump the guy’s feet!  Surely the repairman was there to give Zeus attention and snacks, clearly. .  I actually had to go over there and shoo him away because Zeus wouldn’t leave him alone!  When I went to shoo him off, he did a victory lap around the guy’s feet then ran back into the bunny room and back into his cage.

His and Hera’s antics never fail to make me laugh.  Sometimes I swear Zeus is more dog than rabbit.  He loves everybody.

He ignored him, much to my relief and Zeus’s dismay!

that bun is so funny.  When a repair person comes Cotton sneaks up behind n smells their shoes n runs off.  Some he chases when they walk on HIS rug since we moved.  

When on occassion someone wants to pet him I warn them.  Then Cotton grunts boxes then stands his ground.  Not many have been interested in petting him.   Fortunately.

Caleb is also friendly to everyone who can pet him but with Gamgee around now with Gamgee being the way he is towards people (distrustful, nippy, and skittish) it’s a little funny because Gamgee and Caleb ALWAYS follow each other. So when Caleb goes up to someone to say hello Gamgee follows him and then as soon as they get to the person Gamgee turns around and runs and then Caleb follows him. The people NEVER actually get to pet them really so it’s like a teasing game of tag kinda >.> brat bunnies lol if you could understand that. silly Zeus reminds me of Caleb except bigger

We have a cat like that. He LOVES people and will walk all over anyone, even repairmen, to get a pat. He really is a pest lol. But super sweet its hard to resist. Man, I couldn’t resist a bunny coming up to say hi!

I’m not sure that it’s a lop thing, or a large breed rabbit thing.  English Lops are a large breed, same with French Lops.  I’d be curious to see if a large breed uppy-eared rabbit is liek Zeus and River!  Any members with Flemish Giants want to chime in?

We’ve got Idris, who is an New Zealand Flemish mix per vet. She’s friendly, but not as friendly as River. Her likely daughter, Addie, also has Californian thrown in. Ads is just too hyper yet to be a love. Why walk when you can binky is her motto. Doctor is a big Rex. He’s very timid yet, and a bit hyper protective.

Granted, we’ve only had them under two weeks, so Idris, Addie and Doctor may settle in more. But River is just so non prey type loving, I think she’s the odd one.

River sounds like my Piglet, he is just a cuddle munchkin. It will be a little while before you see their full personalities. They will get used to the daily routines and the way you interact with them and in time set up their own little routines. All in all it sounds like they are all overjoyed to be safe and rescued by you and your hubby.

Emmi, just curious…are some of your bunnies names inspired by Doctor Who?

Pretty much all the bunnies names are Whovian – we are both huge geeks and cosplay fans.

River is from River Song/Melody Pond. Both DH and I caught that River was Melody when we first heard both names. It was obvious to us, from our geek natures. Melody becoming Song from my music education. Pond becoming River from Olli’s engineering education, he teaches a class on engineering failures and several of his “favorite” case studies involve bridge and dam failures because they start from seemingly unimportant changes that don’t even relate to construction.

Doctor is obvious. When I found them, they were clearly bonded to even this idiot new bunny owner. So River needed her husband.

Idris from the TARDIS. Because the TARDIS shows up any time, any place. Which she did. We’d already started the Who theme, so we stuck with it.

Addie is the half Who. We wanted to name her Clara or Oswin, but she stomped at us to being called Clara and Oswin just wasn’t fitting her. Addie was suggested in my panicked, just found bunnies thread for River, then again with Adelaide Brooke being a Tenth companion.
