I adopted my bunny from the local animal shelter over a month ago, and he lives in my room in a Penn. He has a lot of space & so many toys. He uses the litter box & eats and poops well.
About a week ago my bunny started going crazy in the penn , keeping me up all night trying to escape. He has now broken the penn and runs around the bedroom freely.
He has started to sleep in the bed with me, and refuses to go anywhere near the penn unless it’s to eat & poop.
He’s so stubborn & I can’t have him run around the room 24/7 – I’m going to buy a new penn but I know he will just go crazy in there again trying to escape!
What do I do?!? Help! I love him so much just want him to be happy.

Can you keep him free roam just in your bedroom – put a baby gate up at the bedroom door.

I mean if he uses his litter box and is nice and tidy about it, doesn’t chew things he shouldn’t be, etc I’d go with what Sarita says and let him run around your room with a baby gate by the door. If you live with your parents and they’re not okay with it, I would try to convince them and tell them how good he is with his litter box and stuff.

Riley shakes the crap out of his pen.
He was a rescue as well.
I’m working on getting a better fence since I’m sick of being woken up at 7am.
I think it’s a thing with rabbits that have grown up in hunches, I think they just always want to get out of any pen.
If Riley was any smaller, I’d just build a condo for him. But he’s a little big for that.

Maybe if you got him a friend? Frankie was in his pen (in the living room) at night alone… I planned to get him a friend, but wanted to wait a month or so after getting him. He’d be so lonely he’d jump (climb really, he’s amazing!) out of his pen, and in the morning, we’d leave the bedroom, and he’d be on the floor, like “hey! whassup?” … he poops a lot, but doesn’t chew, so it’s really no problem … I just worried he’d hurt himself. We got him a friend (and he’s so friendly, luckily there was no bonding process. He was like “hey! Come live in my pen with me! I loooovvvveeee you! Let me lick you! Lick me! No? That’s ok, I’ll be over here! Ok, I’ll try again … I looovvveee you!!” … that was our bonding process, so we were lucky. But now he’s so happy he’s not always trying to get out. He will, sometimes, because it’s what he does, but mostly he just snuggles with his new friend. It’s a thought. Good luck … your bun sounds really sweet, wanting to sleep with you, and snuggle with you … and being so good with the litter (Frankie, though neutered over a month ago, is like Mr. Poops-a-lot, and everywhere, and he pees on the couch where we sit every time he’s out).
