My family is having a problem with the smell of my bunny’s pee, its just a normal urine smell but I’d like to continue to keep my bunny in the house. He is litter box trained and I clean it out daily. Is there anything worth buying, or something I could put down that would help control the smell? Need help.

        Thanks,

You could experiment with different litters, personally I just use wood shavings and have never had a smell issue but I know others on here use different types of litter.

Use compressed wood pellets with hay on top. Can’t smell anything but the hay until you clean the litter tray out.

Agree with STandard Procedure with the wood stove pellets.

I used to use Aspen Supreme and that worked well for smell too.

I used to use compressed wood pellets covered with a sheet of newspaper (Puck tries to eat the pellets otherwise) and a layer of hay, and as long as it was changed at appropriate intervals I didn’t have a problem with smells. Having said that, I switched to carefresh (the last few bags of wood pellets had been getting dusty and I didn’t want to be breathing that in, much less the little monster) and have found that works even better. Short of sticking my face right in the tray I can’t smell anything even if the litter tray goes longer than planned between changes. If I took the time to look online for it it probably wouldn’t work out too expensive either. If anything I think it’s the newpaper that gets stinky, so if your little guy isn’t inclined to eat the litter, you wouldn’t need to bother with that, and I imagine you’d find the issue resolved.

I agree, try different litters to see what works best.

Thank you everyone. I’ll go ahead and try the pellets and see how I like them. Fingers crossed that it will help!
