        Hi guys,

I am hoping someone can help. When I am petting DaBunnah he makes what I can only recognize as Guinea Pig noises (grunts and squeals). He doesn’t feel underweight (anymore); although I’ve only had him for a bit, his hocks are seem fine, his ears, eyes and nose are clean and clear. He eats/drinks the same amount, his poop levels are normal, he purrs sometimes, but mostly the grunts and squeals. He also does the noises when I clean his cage; as well as thumps, and lunges at my hands while I do.

As I have said in other posts I rescued him from a craigslist ad where he was being fed improperly and essentially ignored so that might be part of it. I just want to know if any other bunny makes similar noises. I just want to make sure he is alright.

Oh yes, some rabbits are very vocal. My rabbit is a bit of a grunter and I used to have a rabbit that snored.

ok, I thought I was doing something wrong. No one I knew irl had heard of anything like it. Is there anything I can do about the aggression while cage cleaning? i usually just bop him on his nose and tell him no.

I would not clean his cage while he is in the cage – rabbits are just naturally territorial and get upset when you mess with their stuff.

he only nibbled at me when I cleaned it today. I don’t always plan to clean it with him in there, but I don’t like to let him run around without supervision.

A hallway (with all doors closed) and a baby gate make a nice run/makeshift temporary area. My bunnies don’t get aggressive when we clean their areas, but they do get nosy and try to “help”. Nothing like trying to pile up toys so we can vac and having bunnies trying to throw the toys around!

He lives outside, and I don’t have his run built yet. So supervision is needed at all times when he is out of his hutch.
