Ok, bunny did a new thing again and once again its got me worried.

We have been having some littler box problems but nothing over the top that I was too worried about.  Starting to poop outside of the litter box again mostly.  But the other day he peed outside of his little box.  *the only other time he has done that is when he snuck out of his first cage set up, and could not get back to the litter box.*

I came here and re-read the ‘litter box’ training guide.  My thought was that with school, I have been putting off cleaning his cage a day or two longer then normal. Ok, clean and start cleaning back on schedule since sometimes if its too dirty they will avoid it.  It has been dirtier then today so I’m not thinking that is the case.

Today we came home and let  him out, he went right to his spot in front of the baby gate to the kitchen, waiting for his daily greens.  As I stepped over I leaned down to pet him and smelt pee. And then realized it was coming from his tail area.  When I moved him slightly I realized that the bottom of his tail was covered in a deep yellow-brown ‘pee?’   I got him his greens and he ate them up, but was not too keen on me trying to clean him up.

He then hopped to one of his ‘corners’ (the door way next to the couch.) and sat there kind of uptight and well, odd for him as he normally just loafs or dead bunny flops when he gets to one of his spots. After a few minutes he loafed and he seems to take a nap.  And keeps switching from loafed to sitting to loafed.

I am worried as I have never seen this on his tail before, and he made no movie to try and clean himself.

We have re cleaned all of his cage along with pulling the hay out of and getting him clean water.  (I’m starting to wonder if he likes the flavor hay infused water.)
No new pets, foods or changes that I can find or think of.

        Any thoughts or advice?

          Hi Rose,

How old is your bunny ? A dirty cage can certainly cause a problem otehr than that does he look to be having any difficulties or discomfort moving about ?

We think around 2 years old. neutered male.

He seems fine now.  He was moving fine at the time as well, just how he kept laying down and then sitting up seemed a little off.  Hopped over excitedly for food.  He didn’t poop for about 2 hours after that, but then started pooping normally.

He has been doing binikis and running around/napping like normal.   So I’m not too stressed at this time.   I’m a little worried just because of how random it was.
