Ever since I’ve had Sunny (4 yrs), I’ve used the pine pellets sold as horse bedding. It’s always either been  Equine Fresh or Tractor Supply’s brand . That’s all I’ve ever known. Well now, I’ve moved across the country and can’t find those anywhere over here. I went to three different farm supply stores yesterday. All of the pine pellets for horse bedding contain zeolites….not really sure what that’s all about but I did a quick search while I was at the store on my phone and came to the quick conclusion that I shouldn’t use those. Am I correct? Or is that ok to use? I also looked for what I’ve seen on this forum, feline pine, and didn’t see it anywhere either. The only other thing I’ve seen are bags of wood fuel pellets and I’m a little nervous about those because I fear that maybe they have other things in them that they just don’t print on the bag. There was one store that had a particular brand that may be ok after I research it, but it’s called America’s Best. The bag says it is 100% Douglas Fir. Is Douglas Fir pellets ok to use? Has anyone else used these pellets? Just looking for some guidance here before I have to make a decision. Thanks!

I use a pine litter. It’s almost like cork and crumbles when used. It’s really neat, doesn’t clump, and when it’s crumbly (or full) you know when to change it.  Looks like this:

Yes! That’s exactly what we’re used to using…

I can find it at pet stores. If that helps.

I use America’s Best. The manufacturer is Bear Mountain Forest Products. I googled them and called them to ask, and confirmed there are no additives. I asked if they were safe for pet litter, and understandably the customer service rep prefaced that animals should not ingest them (which I assume is pretty standard disclaimer?)
The page for America’s best on their site seems to be malfunctioning, but the rep had told me that it was the same as the Golden Fire brand (she said it was just different branding so they could sell in different stores)

When I did pick them up at the store, I asked the store attendant whether people use them as pet litter, and seemed to reply to the affirmative as well

I’ve been using them for the last month, seems to be fine (they crumble when wet), my bunny pays no attention to it and it seems to work. Would be curious if others have different thoughts!

Thanks kbun! I’ll probably give it a try then.
