        hey everyone!

i have a general question for the community-

what are the major differences and similarities between a Lop and Mini Lop?

more specifically- personality, care, and if bonding between the two breeds is likely.

any and all input is appreciated!!!

        thanks!

I think the only real difference is size of the bunny and size of the ears when you get into some of the larger lop breeds.

Edit: In the US, the Holland lop is the smallest lop and the mini lop looks just like it except bigger bunny and ears are a longer. I think in some other countries, they call the Holland a mini lop, but not totally sure.

“Lop” is not a breed. Lop is a term that refers to ears that hang down instead of standing up. Several breeds of rabbits are characterized by their lopped ears. Mini lop is just one of those breeds.

JR, yes. The US and UK use “mini lop” to describe different breeds. So, details about what to expect from a mini lop will vary depending on where you live.

o jeez i had no idea it was so complex!

i guess i would be referring to a USA Mini Lop and what is the breed that is about 10-12 LBS? those would be the two that i am most specifically referring to, or if you have any useful links? i have found many good sites, but none with side-by-side comparison for the novice like myself.

You’re probably thinking of french lops. English lops are also very large, but they don’t look that much like mini lops since they are proportioned very differently with ears that can double as velvet blankets.
