I have a two year old mini velveteen rex and she was litter trained. I am having trouble because I have had her hay outside of her box and she would eat then go in her box to poo and pee… now she’s just peeing and pooping on the HAY! Ahhh she never used to do that. Please help! She has the same hay, same food, same environment, same litter… I don’t know why she’s doing that. So now she’s only allowed to have hay in her litter box… so she pees oon it then doesn’t eat it… and it’s a waste of money… UGHH I need some advice.
BTW she has free run of my bedroom with her toys and things, she only goes into her cage to go potty…on the hay.
        What do I do?

Have you tried putting the hay in a hay feeder so that it’s off the ground? I’ve just always had hay feeders hanging right at our litterboxes so can’t help with why she changed to going on the hay.

I would put the hay in a bowl she can’t fit in. Otherwise, this is a strange habit to pick up.

i would get a hay rack. do you use NIC grids/ or C+C grids? if you do you could bend it in half and ziptie it above her hay rack or something! Good luck!
