I took Mr Roger for his neutering appointment this morning but he wasn’t done until late afternoon. I was told to expect a call between 5 and 7 for collection. When 6:30 rolled around with no news, I called and they said he was fine and that I could get him. By the time I arrived, they’d decided that because he was done so late and was still drowsy that he should stay overnight.

I ended up buying 2 types of hay and 2 types of food for him to trial (he’s now up to 3 of each – but I’m not sure the stuff he came with is high enough quality although my wife claims I’m just being over cautious).

I know it’s not a massive deal, that he’s fine and will be ready to come home tomorrow morning but I can just imagine him being terrified all day in a foreign place. It’s been a miserable day for me all around. I was really looking forward to him coming home. Thought it might make me feel better if I shared it.

Its our job as bunny parents to worry about our babies, and like any parent, we want our babies to feel safe and happy. He will likely be drowsy for a while, eat, and go right back to sleep. Hopefully he’ll be wide awake and ready to come home and be spoiled tomorrow, although may have a tiny bunny grudge!

It’s OK to worry. We all know how you are feeling.
The one good thing about him staying overnight is the peace and quiet was probably a good thing and he would have slept through most of the night.

Yeah, I guess it is only natural to worry. It was so odd not to have him around last night and we’ve only had him just over a week!

I’m a little concerned that he might have been left in his box for a while this morning because he’s dug up the cardboard at the bottom and doesn’t usually dig, but as long as he’s happy now. He’s also likely in a bit of pain as he’s been laying a little differently to usual and didn’t wriggle at all when I took him out of his box. I guess that’s to be expected though. Hopefully he won’t try to pull the stitches out.

The vets and the receptionist (who apparently went to visit him) said they thought he was a lovely rabbit, well behaved and friendly. He’ll end up with quite a set of groupies at this rate!

He’s now enjoying being spoilt and is now standing tall to reach the new hay mix – I might have created a selective monster.

Worrying? Yep, that is COMPLETELY normal, ha ha ha!
                  How is he doing today?

Tell me about it! I’m currently in the process of moving from the South Island of New Zealand to the North. Yesterday I had to put Merlin on the pet bus which will take him all the way to the new city where my mum will pick him up. I’ve been worrying ever since!

I can just imagine how scared he is. It’s the first time I’ve been alone in my room without him since I got him and I hate it!  So I understand how you’re feeling! Hope your bunny is doing well
