Simethicone works wonders with Moshi, but he’s gotten wise to me sneaking it in him on bites of green leaf lettuce. Now that he’s onto me, how do I get it into him (without forcing or bunny burritoing)? Once he smells it (Walmart Equate brand), he runs, and hides. Also, is there a better tasting/smelling brand? He’ll lick other meds right from a syringe, but not this, stuff.

You could always try the switcharoo….start giving him a small syringe of diluted carrot or apple juice -maybe once a day at a certain time. Small like 10ml or even less. A real treat. After he knows the syringe is yummy, have three ready-two of the juice (part filled) and one of semithicone(just the dose amount).

Do juice (psych him out, he’s complacent and happy)
          thensemithicone (yikes what was that)
followed by juice (oops that gross one must have been a mistake, but ahhh juice again)

            That’s so sneaky!! Haha

Can you mix it with the juice?

I get the Walgreens brand and my bun doesn’t seem to mind it. He hates syringes though so I have to squirt the dose in the palm of my hand so he can lick it off hahah

I have to syringe it, my buns hate it. Kokanee*s advice seems good. I kind of did that with Yohio when he had to have simethicone every day for 4 weeks. One yummy syringe with pumpkin and sugar-free probiotic berry juice. Then one simethicone, and before he’d had time to get all worked up, another syringe of yummy.

haha Thanks! It’s actually a scheme I just devised to get wormer into my horse! Last time I wormed he got so frantic. The juice really worked!

I don’t see why you couldn’t mix it with juice! I sometimes mix pure pumpkin with carrot or apple juice + critical care for feeding, so you could also mix it up in a juice pumpkin mixture too.

When you mix meds with juice, what ratio of juice to water do you use to dilute the juice? What about with CC — any different?

With Yohio, I used any ratio. If the mixture could be pulled up into the syringe, it was good. I made it rather thin because he needed fluids as well.

But of course if the juice is a very sweet type like mango or so, I’d use the tiniest amount. Unsweetened blackberry/raspberry is very sour though so sometimes i didn’t dilute it at all. Whatever worked.

He’s fine now but getting chubby =) It’s so hard not to give him all he wants now when he wants it, I’m still marvelling at every bite he takes =)

With what Yohio has been through, chubby sounds wonderful!

Honestly I never measure the CC very close, I dump a glob into a cup and add water and juice until it’s diluted enough to go into and out of the syringe. I’ll usually mix in some pumpkin-maybe a tablespoon.
For diluting juice, I use max 50/50 water juice, usually more water.

                          Hope that helps!
