        Hi guys!

Today we have some cleaners in, so the rabbits and I have had to move into one room and we’ve sent the day in here. They don’t seem too fussed – they have their cardboard boxes and hay and lots of humans to climb on.  Merlin was having a quiet moment under a table eating his cecotropes when suddenly i heard a weird noise from him, like a short yowl from a cat!

I had my back turned so I missed it, but my partner said he had sneezed. I kept an eye for the next few minutes but typically as soon as i turn my back, theres a massive sneeze fit and another yowl. Its not like screaming – its not a long protracted noise, just a short one and both times he hasn’t seemed to be in any particular distress. he’s now chowing down on a bunch of hay but i’m still worried. I gave his face a little check over and there isnt any mucous or discharge…

any ideas on weird noises?? He’s normally super silent!

How often does he sneeze aside from this? Check his paws for snot or discharge.

It could be snuffles, from dusty hay, or dusty anything really. If he sneezes a lot, you need to go to the vet to get it checked out. They will usually give your rabbit an antibiotic, but one time my friend’s rabbit got it really bad and the vet had to flush her entire nose out.

This is the first time I’ve ever even noticed! He has now stopped coughing and is just sneezing every so often. Maybe it was because we’ve been in a mostly unused room all day? Or he doens’t like the smell of the cleaning products? (our carpets had to be done.)
But his paws, eyes and nose all look fine and bright. And he isnt appreciating my fussing at all – he’s going about business as usual, just a lot of sneezing!

I wouldn’t worry about it unless your seeing discharge in his eyes and/or nose!

As long as it’s only every once in a while he should be fine

If you notice him sneezing a few times a day several days in a row he may have a cold. You can help this by giving him about half an eyedropper of baby cold medicine like Tylenol or Benadryl 2-3 times a day for a few days to make sure that he can breathe okay.
