When rabbits are startled, do they tend to have a tendency to stiffen up? My rabbit seems to almost be like a fainting goat. I only notice it when he is startled which is why I ask

My rabbit seems to be having an issue where when he tries to hop he is floundering and falling over and then seems to take a minute to recover (either lays down, hobbles, limps awkwardly or seems almost dizzy).

I have a tile floor, but this is not the usually slipping and what not. This seems to be almost him seizing up or becoming too tensed to hop. Maybe my explanation doesnt really make sense but Im not really sure how else to put it. He doesnt seem injured. He doesnt act as though he is in pain. Idk maybe I just have a silly little bunny

Sliding on a slippery floor is one thing but falling over, hobbling, etc., is a whole other story. You really need to get your bunny in to see a vet as, soon as possible.

I agree, this is something I would get checked out by your vet. It could be something minor like an ear infection, but it could be the beginning of head tilt or a neurological issue. Please keep us updated.

I automatically thought head tilt too–this was how it started with our Bridge Bun Boston. Do you notice any discharge from eyes or nose as well? Get your bun in now before it escalates! Let us know!

Update: he was doing a weird head tilt sideways walk on top of his weird hop wobbles….but I believe it was due to a stress overlaod (car ride to the vet, scary vet, car ride to bfs house, new environement)
Took him to the vet and he said everything looks healthy and to just keep an eye on him. But he isnt wobbling much anymore unless he gets spooked which is again why we think he just doesnt handle stress well….

I think he isnt too sick or damaged lol Thank you all for the input!!
