Do NIC condo work for giant breeds of rabbits, (i.e. french lop & flemish giants)? I feel like Murray would just bust out of the condo. I like the multi story designs that many people have posted but I’m worried that if my 10lb bun hopped on to the wooden platform held with dowels that he would collapse the whole structure! What are people’s experiences with housing giant buns?

Yeah, they work, but you probably would have to make it pretty big, and make sure the dowels are secure.

My bunnies live in a big doggie pen/x-pen, and sometimes I put levels in with dowels and wire squares.

I think you should start off slowly. Like build just a bottom floor of the cage and once your big bun is used to the area add a second floor but one that isn’t too high up. You could even add supports if you like. And you could always test the sturdiness of it, just place some heavy stuff on top of the level and wiggle it around a little to make sure everything stays in place. Also make sure you get good flooring a slippery cage is just as bad as a non-sturdy one.

I have murray in a bunny proof room with a dog crate as his home base (litterbox, food, water) but he never gets locked in the cage just the room. I want to do something more vertical so I can put his home base in a room with more traffic but I’m a little scared of making the levels. My house has wooden floors so the slipping is something I didn’t even think about! Thanks for the tips!!

Porky’s condo’s levels aren’t wood held by dowels. They are NIC panels held by the clips and secured with ties. In the center of his the ramps have NIC panels on both side which creates a center column adding a lot of strength and stability.
