Just wondering because I feel like I’m going through a TON! Pumpkin doesn’t pee in the box in her cage, so I’m thinking I could easily scoop out the poops and it would be ok. And she only pees in one tiny corner of her bigger litter box. What kinds of litters do you guys use (if you’re scoopers). I’m using compressed paper now; I really like it b/c it doesn’t get smelly, but I’m open to suggestions before I go broke!

How often do you clean it?

I use pine pellets, with hay on top, and a corner with a pile of hay for my two to munch on. I have 2 rabbits, and I clean their litterbox every 2-4 days.

The pine pellets have a peculiar smell to them, but it fades away once you open the bag and you get used to it. You can buy big 40 lb bags of the pellets from feed stores really cheap (mine are between $5-15. The bags are meant for horses, but they work awesomely in litterboxes.)

About every 2-4 days as well Mocha. I’m all about bulk nowadays….might be a good idea to look into!

I use natural paper and I tip the lot on the garden since Riley likes to move most of it into a mound to pee on it.

I scoop several times a day. I use wood stove pellets.

With the pine and wood stove pellets does it kind of clump up where you bunny pees, making it easy to scoop?

It turns into sawdust which is kind of wet, so I just use the regular cat scoop and scoop it out. It sticks together enough to not fall through the scoop, but isn’t clumpy like clay litter.

                        +1 on the cat scooper

I clean once a day for boxes used by 1-2 buns and twice a day for boxes used by more than 2.

I use these pellets that are like stove pellets but they are called Cactus Pellets, and they are great!! He pees in a corner and i have a small litter box. I scoop his poop off the top and switch the corners.

I scoop Murray’s litter several times a day! I think because he’s a big bun he poops and pees a lot (he also isn’t neutered yet). I use woodstove pellets as a base and then put carefresh on top with hay at only the front of the large cat litterbox he uses (he doesn’t like sitting on the hay). If he feels like his litter box isn’t clean he’ll pee and poop outside right next to his litterbox which is a pain. I find myself refilling his litterbox every day and a half. The woodstove pellets are nice for odor but sometimes if it dries the peed on sawdust is harder to scoop out.
