So my friend randomly dropped by my home with a bunny she said they could no longer take care of. She said she knew the bunny would be in good hands if it was in my care since I love and own a variety of pets.

I’ve had two rabbits in the past. A harlequin and a holland lop so I know the basic needs of rabbit care. But this was YEARS ago!

The issue is I have no idea how old this bunny is or what breed. I’m not even sure if she’s been spayed. All I was told is that it’s a female. She was given to me in a 10 gallon fish tank. So now I need to go out and buy a cage but since I don’t know the breed or what size she can possibly get I’m not sure what size of cage to purchase. I need to get her out of that fish tank as soon as I can.

She is a nice friendly rabbit. She runs around and already does her little binky all around. She doesn’t shed very much like my previous holland lop. She is around 11 inches and about 3 lbs.

Any help to identify how large see will get or her age will help me to choose a nice cage for her. I believe in setting up proper environments for my pets. So cost isn’t an issue. I put my pets needs before myself. She is an indoor bunny by the way.

My files are to large to add as attachments so here are the photo links.

It’s hard to say since so many bunnies are mixes. If I were to guess, I would say she has some Havana qualities

Here is some more info on my rabbit. Another question. Do you think you can tell her age or if she will grow anymore?

            Length: 11-12 inches

            Weight: 3 lbs

            Gender: Female

            Temperament: Very friendly

Muscle: She feels very dainty. A bit bony and frail.

            Eyes: Brown

Fur: Black but the under coat is sort of greyish/white and her skin is white with very soft thin fur. It semi sticks upward when I pet her fur the opposite way.

Such a sweet little bun… Do you know how long they had her for ? That would give us some idea if she has any growing to do.

She is so so shiny, so maybe a mini satin.

It’s a polish rabbit, or aka a britania petit. They stay pretty small.  Get a large or xl dog crate and or an exercise pen. Super cute!

Wow what a story-and what a lucky rabbit to have found you!

I would check out the habitat section here for ideas-cages sold in stores really aren’t big enough for even very small rabbits-so you’ll want to look into some other options for sure. https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/GreatHabitats/tabid/229/Default.aspx

Hmm, I thought maybe Polish too but then I thought she was too big. I guess it depends on how old she is and if she has more growing to do.

She looks exactly like Dark Mator, even the brown foot bottom fur stuff. No idea what he is but that other thread with a bunny like this suggested Dutch mix.

He is 4.5 lbs fully grown, 3 inch long ears and his fur is very soft and shiny.

He had babies with Queen who is a lot different looking and one is teeny. Teeny to the point that I am worried about him even though the vet says he is fine. (Cujo-REW) Maybe a lil Polish?

My friend never got back to me for how long she had her for. I don’t think it was long though. Her husband didn’t seem to like the bunny because she attacked him. She has been nothing but super friendly and curious towards me.

Hmm that sucks that your friend did that, seems a bit irresponsible and presumptuous that you would take her in

That being said I’m super happy you are doing it and the bunny will be happier and healthier with you. Kudos to you for opening up your home to her

Think the bun has good judge of character?
