Today I noticed scabbing around my rabbit’s mouth and a discoloration around the nose which leads to me believe that there has been discharge from the nose. He has been eating/drinking and spending time with me as he usually does but the scabs are really worrying me, I’ve called around to vets and no one can see him tonight but I’m taking him in later this week. Please help!

It looks like it could be syphilis (vent disease). It isn’t a huge emergency, but make sure you get him into a vet. There is no way to treat that on your own.

Definitely to a vet as quick as you can as it looks very uncomfortable. If you have other buns I would isolate her till you see the vet just in case it’s something that can be shared.

                Awww poor little guy!

Wow-you did an amazing job getting a picture of his mouth-mine would not stand for that, and I definitely couldn’t wield a camera to get such a clear shot Great!

I ditto the vet as soon as you can, and in the meantime, in case it’s vent or something along those lines, make sure he doesn’t interact with any bunnies, and to be safe, maybe not any other animals. Once you get to the vet you’ll know what your dealing with but until then better to be safe. I wouldn’t put anything on it in the meantime either.

If the vet really can’t see you for several days, ask the vet to call you-they may suggest something to do in the meantime. Also if he goes off his food or any other symptoms come up, just bring him in. Most clinics know there will be walk ins and emergencies, and you can generally drop them off for the day, so the vet will see them when they get a chance.
