I have a 3 month old bunny, it’s been a week now. I have a little box lined with carefresh and hay. So far she’s slowly understanding to pee in the box, but she poops everywhere. Everyday I collect her poop and throw it into the pan.

Should I just continue this until she gets it?

I’m going to spay her when she’s a few months older.

I also put a new blanket into the cage that I want her to use as a bed but so far she’s only peed on it. Should I just take the blanket out until she’s fully trained?

I would just carry on picking up the poops and putting them in the litter box. An unsprayed rabbit can be hard to litter train, the peeing on the blanket is probably her marking it as her territory.

Okay so now she doesn’t do so well peeing in her litter box. She’s starting peeing in all of the corners of the cage
Will this improve once I get her spayed?
She also poops whenever she eats pellets or drinks water so that doesn’t end up in the litter box either. Should I move her pellets into the litter box?

Hey blubudgie! Honestly, keep trying – you never know…. But success should/will come with spaying. My boy was an absolute horror till he was neutered. After he had time (about a month) for his hormones to settle, his toilet habits are now perfect. Best money I ever spent!
My Henry is now an absolute pleasure! If you had of asked me before he was neutered…. I can’t say on this forum what I was thinking/saying?!?! Lol!

AndHenry … a question, because my boy is like that (poops everywhere, pees all over the couch …) …he was neutered about 3 weeks ago …

Until your bun got better litter habits, did you let him out until he messed up, and keep putting him back, or did you just let him be out for a lont time, and clean up after him?  What did you do until he was perfect, and can you advise anything specific? I don’t want to be reinforcing bad habits, but I don’t want him to stay confined all the time either.

                Thanks!!

Tofu still hasn’t found the courage to leave her cage so I only have to worry about inside the cage. T___T It’s still a handful though, I go thru a lot of puppy pee pads.

Thanks for the info tho, it’ll keep me motivated until I can get her spayed

Hey LaraK! While Henry was at the vet, I WASHED everything! To take away the ‘this is my toilet’ smell??? If your bun is still marking your couch, I’d consider blocking it off from him if he doesn’t improve in the next 3 weeks. Henry has always been free roam, his house doesn’t even have a door on it, ha ha ha! I didn’t even lock him away when he came home from surgery – and within weeks he just stopped feeling the need to mark our bedroom, actually he only peed on our bed once – I was super excited! He didn’t SPRAY and cover the walls!!! I immediately washed our comforter.
His toilet is located in the dining room and he uses it perfectly even though our bedroom is now his ‘house’. I have yet in the last 12 months had to pick up one poop. WOW! Lol!
Give your couch a good scrub and block it off for a while. I hope this helps/work??? I really feel for you – if Henry’s neuter didn’t work, I don’t know what I would have done? Block him from our bedroom permanently? NO fun!

That’s really reassuring! I want Frankie to be able to run and jump around the living room freely, he’s such a lovebug, but the poop is annoying, and the pee is just … yuck! To imagine him being perfectly trained with his litter habits is such a dream … fingers crossed. Maybe I’ll have Henry come give him the what-for. I keep hoping Angie will be a good influence on him, but so far nope … she does seem a little annoyed by his antics because it can restrict her behavior. But he’s all like “wheeee … poop, poop … wheee … pee down the couch cushion … wheeeee … poop … noooo, noooo, don’t put me back!! puh-leeeaaaassseeeeee!!!  sadness. sigh. oh I’m out again? Wheeeeee …. poop poop … peeee …..” ….
