so money is very tight. any way to trim down a spraying? would an animal shelter or human society be able to this for cheaper? are there any other alternatives that we can try. obviously we are not looking to try our hand at spaying ourselves.

just for a frame of reference, how much did they quote you for a spay. You can look up to see if there are any low cost spay clinics in your area. Not sure where you are at but if you check House Rabbit Society’s website there is a link to see if there are any low cost spays in your area.

and that was the only 2 places close to us that was on the site

Those numbers sound about right for regular vet pricing. You should give them a call to see if they can recommend a low-cost spay option in your area.

A shelter may know of a low cost spay/neuter clinic. It wouldn’t hurt to call them up and ask.

The first quote (167-210) isn’t a bad price depending on the area. The second is at the higher end, but still not out of the ordinary in some areas…

Can you tell us your location (general area/state)?

Can you ask if they would accept a payment plan?

Go to Google and type in “low cost rabbit spay in -whatever city/state you are in-” My first neuter price checks were crazy price ranged too. $200-450… I ended up getting help from a house rabbit society that deals with low cost spay clinics. Because I was too far from them (3 hrs) they allowed me to pick the vet, and they called in their credit card number and told them how much to apply (If I remember correctly they paid like $220!) I paid $35. The next neuter and then spay I went to a clinic that only does spays and neuters, and they are non-profit, so the neuter only cost me $50 and the spay was $75. You would be surprised at where help can be found.
