Recently, someone asked me what I would do with my soon to be earned Bachelor’s in Business Administration. I thought about running different businesses, as well as my own DJ business, but I have a new idea: Owning and operating a rabbit lodging business! The first problem is that I’m unsure about how many people in my part of this Broke State have rabbits. There are so many places that house cats and dogs while their owners are on vacation, but NOBODY around here (maybe for obvious reasons) lodge rabbits temporarily. It sucks to have to miss opportunities to travel or go out of town without worrying about a bunnysitter. What do you guys think?

I think its a great idea! Theres only two here in the uk that i know of, so a big missed oppurtunity. One of the lodges here does ‘spa treatments’ like grooming and nail clipping too.

Maybe there’s a 10% discount for BB users? Now how many people want to use it

i don’t think that is a bad idea. The thing about being a bunny owner, is that you realize everything out there is cats and dogs.

This can be both good and bad. If you provide a service for a small, but passionate group of individuals, in this case bunny owners, you can easy carve out of section of business for yourself. This means that you can get the lion’s share of the business and if you do a good job, word of mouth will spread. However, the down side of this is that unlike cats and dogs, there is a small group. If you are in an area where there is not a lot of bunny owners, then the business may struggle.

This is why exotic pet vets are more expensive right? They have to spend extra time and money to go to school. when the graduate, they possess a specialty and since there is not a lot of exotic vets out there, they charge more.

So I think it is a viable business but you should definitely look into it and research before you make a move.

Also, I think another thing to consider is to find people that will be savvy in caring and handling the rabbits. Again, probably not a hard thing to do or train, but something to consider if you do decide to be serious about it. Good luck

Yeah, that’s the biggest problem I’m thinking about thus far. In a city of 510,000 out of how many of them are rabbit owners? (In other words, how many are really missing out on a great pet? Haha) Also I’m thinking of building size, and I would have to think about how many rabbits would I be able to take in at a capacity? That, too, presents ANOTHER problem. If I don’t have enough housing for rabbit space, I plausibly lose the business. If I have too much, I can have “extra” bunnies acquired haha if they aren’t spayed or neutered.

You could always start it as a small side-out-of-home business until you know if there is a demand.
