Bugs won’t stop digging and ripping up the carpet!! He never used to do this but I got him neutered a few weeks ago and now he won’t stop. What should I do?? I’ve heard spraying the floor with lemon juice helps but I don’t know anything else. Please help! I’m renting this place I can’t damage the carpet

I just put things my Riley is allowed to chew over the spots he’s chewing. So instead of chewing up the carpet he can rip up a old phonebook. I also have some old carpet in his little area that he’s allowed to play on (but I have stuff on the bits he started chewing.)

Just like the last post suggested, I put things my bunnies like to chew right over the carpet spot they’ve been tearing up. My bunnies would rather chew newspaper anyways so it works out. If your bunny is still determined to get at the carpet, you have to think about buying something to cover the carpet like a sheet of thick vinyl at least until he forgets about it.

I used to have a bunny who had constant urges to dig and rip holes in my carpet so I filled a tall-sided litter box with shredded paper. He would have a blast digging through all the paper. Maybe something like that would help get his urges out in a less destructive way?

This post helped me a lot too! My rabbit has dug up some carpet so I just put some cardboard over it and now she has stopped chewing it up. But I can’t seem to get her to stop chewing on the walls. Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone! And I got mine a little scratching post, it’s basically a sheet of tough, layered cardboard that lays on the floor ($4 at Walmart). Bugs sits on it and goes crazy digging at it for about 30 mins straight, then he lays down and takes a long nap! He’s like a toddler. It really seemed to help him get the digging and chewing out of his system, he’s barely even been using it the past few days. He hasn’t chewed on the walls in my house since I got it for him which he used to do a lot. Hope this helps you!

Bumping cuz I need help too.

Queen is now destroying my carpet.

I have made slopes in her pen which she will gladly dig/chew on but she’s all over the place ripping it up in my room.
Have bought all sorts of edible/diggable mats, put down spare pieces of carpet, (she moves those out of the way), shampooed carpet, sprayed with vinegar and told her NO, repeatedly. I even wiped bar soap of the worst places.

Maybe worth mentioning….the places she is ripping up are the places one of the babies used to dig at but not so destructively.
I could prolly move one back in with her and DM now but I hate to leave Slick all by himself.

The only thing that works against my two destroying carpet is to cover the carpet with blankets or throw rugs.

Mine dig at the corners of the room. They did manage to dig up 2 corners of the carpet. They have since stopped doing that. I do noticed that they like to dig at blankets and of course cardboard as well. They have plenty of cardboard.

She’s going after corners as well.

I just had son lay down some heavy tile extras we have but the corners at a 45 degree angle and the one by the door are gonna be tougher.
They can dig it up so fast it’s crazy.
