hi i just wanted to introduce myself and my rabbit ace he is a lion head and he is 4 I’ve had him for about 2 weeks my friend could no longer keep him so my family took him in when we got him i could tell his cage is to small i was going to make a c and c cage but i went 2 3 stores and none had them so i was wondering if the largest size if this cage would be ok (he is a small rabbit and he will have the playpen part out for him to use witch i will cover so he can’t escape) http://www.petsmart.com/supplies/cages/oxbow-play-yard-small-pet-habitat-zid36-21578/cat-36-catid-600022?var_id=36-21578&_t=pfm%3Drecently_viewed

also i would like to potty train him also his previous owners didn’t really give hi toys (they were very good to him just didnt have toys)i got a few for him but he docent really know what to do with them they just kinda sit in the cage how do i get him to understand also what can i use to trim his nails (we have animal nail clippers but their kinda big they were my dogs when she was a little puppy should i use human nail clippers or just get the ones made for rabbits) and finally he is very nervous around us i don’t know if he was like that always or if thats just cuz he’s in a new home is their any way to make him trust us more i let him out for an hour or 2 and its very difficult to get him back in without trusting me

This cage and playpen setup is exactly what I started my Peter with. He let me know after a couple months that he needed some more space, and that he was more than capable of jumping the playpen gate. lol He’s free-roam now, but his cage is still set up as one of his “base camps.” It’s a nice set up if your bun is not a jumper, but he’ll still need access to more exercise space every day. I also suggest a towel over the top and ramp (open cage door) so that your bun doesn’t get his foot stuck if he decides to step on it.

yea my plan was to get him potty trained then when i get home he will be free range of 1 room (don’t want the dog getting him) right now i give him about 30 min to an hour but its very difficult to get him back in his cage or interact with him when he’s out of the cage he will let you pet him as much as you want when he’s in the cage but once he’s out he won’t even let me pet him (also like a lot of rabbits he does not enjoy being picked up)
