So I picked up Fuji and thought she might like looking out the window, so I rested her body on the little resting sill and when I went to let her go, she flipped.  She ran around the room, hopped on top of her cage, and now she is sitting under my bed thumping her hind legs like there is a threat.  I don’t know what her deal is.

Rabbits thump their feet when they are really scared and nervous.

Too much thumping can cause sore hocks.

Rabbits can easily break their spines if dropped only a small height, so please be careful next time.

Thankfully she stopped after about a minute. I guess she doesn’t really like heights?

It’s also possible that she was really annoyed that you picked her up in the first place. Philomena thumps a couple of times after I pick her up.

In my opinion, rabbits runs away because they dont feel safe anymore. So, you should make sure that they are happy with food, cage,….
You ought to watch your bunny more carefully.

I don’t know what had her spooked but she is fine now. I pick her up every now and then to put her in her cage and to groom her and she is always fine with that. I don’t know if I made it sound like I just left her there on the sill, but I definitely did not do that. I was still holding her close to me while I let her see out my window.

It may be that she saw something outside that scared her, or that when you let go of her she didn’t feel safe and secure. Either way, it doesn’t sound like your bunny is a windowsill nature girl. Best to stick to floor activities after expressing her disapproval with the windowsill.

Thanks guys! I’m learning what she likes and doesn’t like. I guess she also doesn’t like when I rub my hand on the ground really fast. Kind of like you would do to get a cat’s attention. She will grunt and dig at my hands. Anyone else’s rabbits do this?

I’ve never rubbed my hands on the floor but if my rabbit is scared (when she goes under my bed and I try to get her) she thumped her hind legs so that means she’s scared. Or if I go to get her and I put my hand in front of her she throws her front paws at my hand. It doesn’t hurt but looks like a cat pouncing to kill something

Rabbits are peculiar creatures. And that is the reason why I love them! Right now, she loves to hop on the end of my day bed, run to the other side and then hop off. She will do this about 3-4 times and it is so cute!
