I’m new to the bun bun community. We recently got a Flemish Giant New Zealand cross. She came from a very reputable breeder. With that said one of her ears has flopped over. I have done a little Web searching and found too much information to sift through. She doesn’t appear to be in any pain and allows me to “play” with the ear so I could check for possible injury. I have also checked in her ear for mites but don’t see anything (or at least anything visible). Is this a common problem? Should I be rushing her to the vet? Is there anything I should be worried about? Because I’m new to bunny ownership I want to make sure I’m providing the best possible care for her.

She probably has what’s known as ‘helicopter ears’ my Bramble has them too, its totally harmless theres nothing wrong or anything at all to worry about its just the way she is. Bramble’s mum was a lop eared rabbit and his dad wasn’t so I guess he is sort of half and half, sometimes he lops one ear and has the other one sticking up, other times they both stick out sideways (hence the term helicopter ears)

Sounds like your Flemmie/New Zealand bunny actually has some lop in her too.

Thank you so much. I feel a little better now. She has a wellness vet check coming up so just wanted to make sure I didn’t need to move it closer!
