I saw my rabbit fumbling through a pile of hay and thought it was cute. Moments later my rabbit was running round the room with a bundle of hay in his mouth. He took it to the litter tray, hopped out and just wouldn’t eat or let go of that hand size bundle of hay. I pulled some hay off his mouth and saw a bit of carpet strand. I started pulling it and it was really really long. After I pulled the arm length carpet strand off he started eating again. That was really scary. Suppose he failed to chew the carpet strand properly, tried to swallow it whole and it got stuck, then tried to eat hay to help digest it but the carpet strand was in the way. I pulled some hay off his mouth through the cage and he hopped over to me allowing me to pull it all off his mouth.

          That must’ve been scary.

If he had eaten the string (this also happens with dogs, like when they eat the strands of rope toys), It could’ve not only caused a blockage, but get twisted around in his intestine and “strangled” it and ripped through it and cut of the circulation, and all that if you think what would happen if you very tightly tied a string around a very soft finger.
