Apologies if a similar topic has been posted before..
I recently took in a lop bunny who my boyfriends mother found hopping along a busy road covered in mites and so dirty we thought she had light brown patches (she’s pure white) we took her to the vet to get cleaned up and checked out… Nobody has claimed her yet (it’s been 9 days now) Ill be posting pics of her and a bit about her in the Welcome thread once I get her new cage set up and pick a name and stuff
Anyways, she’s become quite the little love bug, always grooming me and racing circles around me when she’s not cuddled on my lap purring and soaking up the ear rubs. If I stop petting her she will start grooming my pants or jump up behind me on the couch to groom my hair. Sometimes she will groom the couch/towels/blankets/carpet/etc. Should I stop her from doing this?

Also, I’ve been trying to litter train her, but she doesn’t seem to be catching on. And she loves pooping all over the bed when my boyfriend and I let her out to cuddle if I put her litterbox in the corner of the room she will pee next to it and she poops wherever she likes. I put hay in one side of her box and always put her stray poops in it. Is there anything else I can do to encourage her to use the litterbox? I would love to let her free range all day in the bedroom as she’s confined to a medium dog crate for a few hours after she eats to try and minimize the mess, and she HATES it.

I would try to see if she was spayed which might explain her messiness Unless she’s digesting any fibers from the towels, carpet, blanket, etc it should be fine I would think.

Agreed. First things is check if she’s been spayed.

As far as grooming goes if she’s not ingesting anything that’s fine. Flopsie once chomped on my hair so no sleeping with her for me -___-

Btw is that her in the avatar? She is soo freakin adorable!!! I love the giant tuft of hair under the chin!

Is there any way to tell if she’s spayed besides taking her to the vet?
I don’t think she’s ingesting anything, she mostly licks but sometimes she will bite my head when she’s ‘styling’ my hair lol how can I tell if she’s ingesting it?

And yeah, that’s her in my avatar, isn’t she the cutest? ? I’m thinking of naming her ‘Sugar’ cuz she’s just so sweet!

I don’t think the grooming of household items or hair is a concern at all.

I doubt she has been spayed – most strays usually aren’t. The only way to definitively tell is to go ahead and have the procedure – if she is then it won’t be a big deal and if she isn’t it still wont’ be a big deal and then it’s done!

Sarita- That’s what I was thinking. I will take her in to be spayed once money permits, I guess towels are the answer until then!

do you get charged if they have been spayed already? Also, are the buns out? Sorry, I don’t know so i’m just curious.

As far as the spay goes, its hard to see the incision especially if the fur is covering her. I know my bun is spayed but I couldn’t tell from just looking, maybe the vet can better tell due to experience?

If it were me, i’d watch out her grooming hair. I wouldn’t care too much about clothes but she has chomped and eaten my hair once so I never let her in that direction

Yes, you will get charged for some things – no vet should be expected to do anything for free…you will most certainly get charged for any time or medication that your vet must use.
