Hi everyone. So yesterday Pamper was acting a bit lazy, but I figured that it was because she was kept inside (because of high temperatures here in Argentina, she didn’t go outside to play as usual so, inside she usually sleeps more). During the day I gave her 1 Oxbow Papaya Fruit tablet for digestive health, like I do lately.

Cleaning out her cage yesterday I found some hair. She has been hormonal, with the honking and pooping everywhere. I’m waiting till I finish my tests to take her to get spayed, so I can pay my full attention to her recovery.

And yesterday night when I was going to take her back in to her condo, I saw her hunched up in a ball. I went back to look at her alfalfa tray and she hadn’t eaten any of it (which was freshly placed a couple hours back).

I gave her some belly massages and tried to feed her some alfalfa myself, which she ate some of but not too much. Since by then it was 2 am I decided to go to sleep and see in the morning if she had pooped. I was so worried that I didn’t sleep at all and found her like this at 5 am (second attachment).Seeing this I gave her half more of the tablets.

So I went outside and got some basil (her favorite) and fresh grass and washed them and fed them to her which she ate. She is now in a more relaxed position (lounging) but still no poops. I made her go closer to the water bowl and she drank some but not too much.

The problem is I don’t have a well-trusted rabbit pet. There aren’t many here in Argentina and the one I got recommendations for has a clinic which is very very far away and I depend on my mom to drive me there in this case.

What do I do? Should I give her more grass? Should I give her more belly massages? Should I give her another papaya pill? Please help.

Yes, more greens, more water if possible and get her active. Papaya tablets have little to no help with digestive issues.

I gave her some more fresh clean grass and basil. I don’t know if I should give her more as this is already more than I give her normally. I can’t get her active though. She won’t move.

Try to get her to hop around…get behind her and make her move….that was one suggestion from one of my vets.

Rabbit poop is a beautiful thing!

Simethicone is a good first aid to keep at home in cases of gas/stasis. I’m currently trying to nurse my bunny Yohio through stasis. I give him Critical care in a syringe, don’t know if that’s available in Argentina but it’s also a good thing to keep in the little bunny-first-aid kit.

I hope Pamper will be just fine now!

We have that! In drops and in tablets. How much are you supposed to administer, every how many hours?

How is your bunny doing today?

The dosage for simethicone is 1ml every hour for the first 3 hours and then 1ml every few hours after that.

I gave her simethicone last night (a little bit less than indicated just in case because it was her first dose), and she started eating more and pooped a little. Today she ate much more and pooped. I keep bugging her to move around. I’m not sure she is fully healed yet because she’s still not her usual self (moves less than usual and not as friendly) but she is better than yesterday. I’m still giving her belly rubs and simethicone so she is on her way to binkying and being fully recovered, I hope. Thank you for asking!
