        Hello everyone!

I recently purchased a Holland Lop buck. He’s almost 10 weeks old and I’ve noticed that he has an…occasional twitch. In the month I’ve had him, I’ve only noticed it occurring only twice. Before I hightail it to my vet, I wanted to see if anyone else has seen this in their rabbits or can give me any advice. The only way I can describe it, is it’s almost like he has the hiccups or he’s keeping a beat. His head will bob upwards rhythmically for 10-20 seconds. And like I said, I’ve only seen it happen twice, but I thought it was a little weird. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Not sure if this is what’s going on or not, but I know that my Pete is prone to hiccups if he’s suddenly startled or eats too quickly. His little head bobs with each hiccup and if you’re close to him on his level you can hear the pitiful little hiccups. This can last a couple seconds if it’s from eating too fast, to a minute or two if he’s startled. I found that giving him some fresh water where he’s sitting helps alleviate the hiccups. If he doesn’t want to drink, a little apple juice in the water helps him suck it down and sooth his hiccups. He was much more prone to hiccuping before 4 months of age, but he still will occasionally.

I’d just keep an eye on him. I wouldn’t worry too much if it’s hiccups, but it’s always good to keep an eye on the bun if you think it’s something else.

I second that. If it’s a sporadic thing, I’d be surprised if the vet could tell anything anyway at this point. Cottontail, I was off the forum for several months during our move, but want to belatedly say I think your Cottontail’s name is adorable! So appropo

Thanks Megabunny . He’s a mischievous little guy, and he knows his name pretty well.
