Hey guys, I’m new to he forum and also a first time rabbit owner, I have a blue mini lop bunnyc called Alfie.
Basically I need some advice on how to bring him up, I’ve watched a few videos and read a lot of FAQ’s but it’s come to the point where I need some advice from someone who knows exactly what their talking about.
Alfie doesn’t really like to interact with me or my partner, I inderstand he’s very young and I’ve only had him a couple of days but he won’t come out of his cage, he won’t eat anything from my hand, in fact I Havnt seen him eat anything atall, he drinks a lot of water though! EVERYTIME I go near him he will run to his “safe haven” spot as many people call it which is under my table and chairs, I would just like someone to put my mind to rest and let me know that it’s perfectly normal, any advice/help what so ever is much appreciated I will take every piece of advice Ito consideration.
        Thank you all
        Regards,
        Nicky.

Perfectly normal rabbit behavior – LPT just posted this link in the Forum Section and while it’s meant to be somewhat humorous, it really does have some good advice on what it’s really like to live with a rabbit:

Unfortunately because of the https you will have to copy and paste this link…

Does he have full run of your house or of a large area in your house? You may find it helpful to set him up in his own small area to begin with (such as in an exercise pen). Once he seems comfortable about this space, expand his area. When his area is big enough for you to fit in with him, try hanging out quietly. I once saw someone suggest (not sure if it was here or another site) reading a book or checking your phone while sitting in the bunny’s space.

My bunnies love their pellets and we were able, over the course of a month, to get them to jump on top of us (while we are lying on our backs) by placing pellets on our bellies. 🙂 Neither of our bunnies likes to be held and only Luna appreciates long pets.

There’s plenty of time to bond with your little guy, even if he never ends up being a cuddle bug. I think, given time and patience, he will eat out of your hand eventually (particularly once you find a favorite food for him). Is he old enough to get into vegetables and such? If so, see if he would like a baby carrot or some parsley (my buns love their parsley).
