        Hi there!

I’m Jane, and I have two awesome bunnies!

Bunny One is Marshfellow, “Fella” for short. He’s a blue-eyed white Flemish Giant. He’s almost 5 months old, and he was just neutered. He’s a complete sweetheart, and will sit for long stretches of pets and snuggles. That said, he’s still just a baby, so when you’re not loving on him, he’s running all over the place, exploring. Unfortunately, he’s also a huge klutz, when he’s running around. Late last week, he tried to do a Bunny 500 run through his litter box and caught a foot, which sent him sprawling onto the floor of his pen. Somehow he managed to break two bones in his left hind! So now, he’s on pen-rest for the next couple weeks, with the pathetically adorable bunny cast you’ll see in his pictures. I like to think that we’re getting all of his mishaps and medical issues out of the way early, so that we have a long healthy life together!

Bunny Two is actually not even home with us yet, but will be in ten days! She’s a pink-eyed, spayed white New Zealand named Fluff. I went down to a rabbit shelter local to us to scout out potential bondmates for Fella, and she picked me out. Marched right over, snuggled up to my leg, and sprawled out with full frog legs within five minutes. If I got up and moved, she’d do the same again. If I stopped petting, she’d pull on my belt loops until I started again. She had met several potential adopters in her time at the shelter, but had never put on such an obvious “You are my person” display, so how could I argue! Just to be sure, I went back a few days later and brought my boyfriend (the bunny daddy) with me. Once again, Fluff marched right over and claimed me. She thought the boyfriend was ok, but she was very clear about telling me that I was hers, and that was that. I filled out my paperwork and paid the adoption fee right then and there. The rescue is kindly boarding her for us while Fella sorts out his post-neuter feelings. We figure their first meeting will have a better chance of going well if he’s not full of raging teenage hormones! I can’t wait to see more of her personality– but from everything I know from the rescue volunteers and my time with her, she’s a very mellow lady who loves lounging around and being loved on.

As things go, we’re relatively new bunny people– we’ve only had one bun before these two, and after trying everything to save him, we sadly lost him to heart disease in September. He was only fourteen months old. He was a Flemish, his name was Bumble, and I miss him every day. We had no idea what wonderful companions rabbits were until Bumble taught us. We thought, “Oh, a house rabbit seems like a fun pet”, and though we were prepared for the care commitment, we were totally unprepared for just how amazing, loving, sweet, and funny he would be. My boyfriend used to say he was my Spirit Animal, and I’m inclined to agree with him. Even with Fluff and Fella in my life, I still miss my sweet boy, and I know I always will.

Bumble also reminded me that I’ve always been a little bit of a bunny nut, deep down. When I was young, all of my favorite toys and books revolved around bunnies, but I think, after years of being told they were not good pets, were boring, had to live outside, etc.. (you know, all the things that non-bunny people think) I kind of put them out of my mind as possible companions. Boy, was I missing out!

In addition to the buns, we have two awesome cats, who are a big reason we decided on two buns instead of one. Bumble spent a large part of his free time trying to cuddle the cats, who, while tolerant, did not want to be laid upon by 10 pounds of rabbit. With the two, we figure the cats can hang with the rabbits without the pressure of being the only available four legged furry thing for snuggles.

Anyhow, looking forward to getting to know everyone here on BinkyBunny!

        -Janie

Welcome! Fella and Fluff sound like huge sweethearts! Congrats on the adoption of Fluff! Would love to see piccies!
I am sorry for your loss of Bumble, he sounded very special. Unfortunately, most of us BB’ers know the feeling of missing a special bun that has passed.
Anyways, I am so glad you have joined us! BB is really a bunch of fun.

              Thank you for the welcome!

Man, I can’t believe I forgot the pics!! Let’s see if I can figure this out..

Assuming my attaching skills do not fail, here’s Fella in his pen on his first night home, and later with his neon cast, and then one of Fluff in the midst of staking her claim. Miss Fluff is also my profile pic.

Can’t see the pics, but it took me a while to figure out the attachment process, too.
I love the profile pic. Fella’s a big white plushie from the look of him.

Fluff and Fella had their meeting/first date at the shelter today! Since he’s only two weeks past neuter, and is still in his cast, they met through bars, but everything went well!

Now she’s home, settling in. Her pen is right next to Fella’s, and they have had several little “conversations” through the bars. Both of them have done some great flops, and now they’re napping. Here’s the pretty lady!
