We just rescued a baby bunny yesterday.  They were unsure of his age, but they knew that he was young we will be taking him to the vet later this week.  I have been reading posts all day about giving them space.  We are litter training him and he is not fixed.  We plan on doing this once we know how old he is and can schedule the appointment.  Right now we have a typical bunny cage from the store that will only be meant for sleeping and he can roam our bedroom freely.  But we are coming across a problem.  He was litter trained from where he came from, but did not get space to roam.  While he runs around happily, he is pooping. Is this normal? Obviously, not being fixed and being so young he will not have potty training down.  Any suggestions? Am I letting him  have too much space? Just want the best life for my little guy, but would rather not have poop everywhere

            Welcome!

Yep, it’s normal – he’s not used to your home, his new home, and he’s trying to mark his scent everywhere so that he can make it his own. I recommend investing in an x-pen (a puppy/dog exercise pen) at least 36″ tall right away; they’re not expensive and can easily be found and ordered online. The x-pen will limit his space so that he can start to feel more comfortable with all these new sights and sounds and feel like he has his own area to be.

Place the litterbox in a corner of the x-pen. Eventually, he will take to the box again.
