So I’ve noticed this for a few nights now. In the late afternoon/evening, Potus sits in this upright, concentrating posistion (we call it the pondering position), ocassionally checks for a poop, then thumps his butt on the floor of the cage 3-4 times. Then he gets up and goes about his business. He eats/drinks/poops fine. He’s active. But it’s weird behavior. Could it something to do with his boy bits dropping? When we checked him a week ago, he had a spot for boy bits but they looked….empty or deflated. He only does this routine once a day that I know of.

Maybe it’s actually his presidential position.

Lol! Maybe! Maybe that’s how he vetoes something

Is he just an overly methodical thumper? Like when Wooly thumps, he will have this very stern look on his face. He picks him hind feet up enough for the thump that his butt will move with them. Then he will thump 2 or 3 times. Done. He hops away. I always thought it was weird. Of course, he really only does it when he A) sees the carrier or B) thinks I’m going to groom him.

I noticed this behavior with Pete when I disrupt his schedule by either not giving him treats before I go to bed or trying to sleep in too long after my husband goes to work in the mornings. He will sit where he can see me, lay his little ears back and thump his back feet and but on the floor once… wait a couple seconds, and then one more time. Seems to be the “I object” of young boy bunnies. lol

Hmm. It seems to be a fairlly regular evening occurrence. He doesn’t act like he needs anything. Just concentraiiiiing…thump! It’s quite amusing really. Maybe he’s a wholehearted thumper and puts his whole butt into it lol.

Pfffthahaha. I don’t know why he thinks this is the way to do it, but it sounds adorable/hilarious. Theodore is not so calculated with his thumps. Nowadays he really only thumps if somehing scares him, which is very rare, and as he’s running when he’s heading out of the room he normally hangs out in; he’ll give a good thump in motion. It’s almost as if to say, look out world! Here I come!
